FX4 Electronic Shift On The Fly ESOF question

How is this an FX4 only feature? Its not Auto4x4, from what I can gather from google searches, cus the book says NOTHING about it, is that you can select 4x4 hi while the truck is moving. From what I understand, all F150's with Electronic shift can do this. So where does the "on the fly" come in?

Thanks.

"shift on the fly" is a old term. Comes from way back when vacuum hubs, and push button 4wd came about. No more stoping to lock the front hubs, or grabbing the 4WD shift lever. Hopefully this was done before you inconvienced yourself, further by being stuck.

I hated the old days of locking in the manual hubs, lol... Then the later system said to make the 2hi to 4hi shift below 60mph. Now my owners manuals say I can do it at any speed. The 4lo is tricky, a 2-3mph roll in neutral.

Reason I thought it was fx4 option only was because when u chk "features" of the fx4 online, it is one of the top 3 or 4 options or features. Non of the other trims say this. So I assumed it was a fx4 option

The new 2012 Lariat, KR and Plat. Have the new 4Auto. I test drove one yesterday.

MSeller, which dealer locally did you use for your 2011?
