BLUE07STX- Yes both trucks had 3.73 gears of course the fx4 has the electronic locking differential where the lariat has a limited slip, both trucks were crew cab 5.5 bed. 18" wheels. As far as top speed. Both trucks 5.0L and Eb shut off at 107mph. In fact thats been the top speed in F-150's since I have been driving them, and I have owned a 1997, 2- 2003's a 2005 , a 2008 and a 2011.

The beauty of it all is that ford is providing us all some pretty impressive powerplant options. I drove both extensively before buying my ecoboost. I feel both are great engines with plenty of power. I went with the EB because I felt the power was excellent and I really did not care to fill the 36 gallon tank of the 5.0 vs the 27 of the EB. It truly is a fun truck to drive!

My 5.0 has a 26 gal tank. I wish it did have a 36.

Mine cuts out at 97mph...not sure if my 4.10's have anything to do with that or not, but it will not break the 100mph mark.

As for the top speed. I was once told that if you are running the truck really hard, it will shut off sooner. Yes, I had to go out and try it and it is true. I have had my EB up to shut off- 107, twice now. I was not running the truck hard either, just gradually gained speed, rpm's running around 3-3500 when gaining speed. The 2008 5.4L I was running hard, around 4,000rpm when it shut down just under 100mph.

My 03 4.2 manual shuts down at 96 indicated, which is about 93 or 94 actual. Doesn't matter whether I'm in 4th or 5th or how far I have my foot buried.
