Front center seat/console swap?

When I bought my XLT, the dealer only had one with the captain’s chair and center console. Unfortunately, they had a lift, bigger tires and wheels and a $20,000 premium on it so I bought my truck with the center flip down seat. My question is what is the feasibility of removing the center seat portion and installing a factory console in its place?

Thanks,

Nunya

It's a straight across swap...... in other words, it's 4 bolts (and the center seatbelts if you don't want them there) The one thing I'm not sure of is the wiring for the power jack that is on the rear of the console.....not sure it it's there on trucks that come/came with the front fold down center seat.

I'm picking up my new truck today (dealer is trading out my EB that had lots of issues for a 5.0) I'll check at the dealership and see what the cost of a center console is, and see what I can find out about the power jack wiring.
This new truck has the fold down center seat....and I'm planning on replacing it with a console too......eventually.

I might have to buy that fold down seat from you! I have a 2010 XLT and the 2011 fold down has a better seatbelt set up for when I need to put a kid up there!

I was at the dealership today, picking up the new truck, and asked the parts folks about the center console swap out. They told me that the center console wasn't sold as a whole unit by Ford....then they brought up the diagram on the computer and showed me. Looks like there are about 8-12 different parts/pieces that must be purchased, then assembled......then installed. They were pretty busy, and I didn't take the time to get all the part numbers/prices.

After driving the new truck around a bit today, I actually like the height of the center seat folded down for an arm rest....but compared the the center console, there sure isn't much storage..... I'll have to get the prices on all the parts and weight the cost before I decide to change out that center seat for a console.

I'm in the middle (really, almost finished) with this project on my '08, and I got lucky and bought one off a guy here for $120.00 shipped. Core cost for just the console (minus cupholders, lid...and pretty much everything else) was between $375.00 and $500.00 from various online dealership websites. I'll research if I get time but to get a list/illustration of all the pieces, visit Team Ford Parts or Tasca Parts.

Like others said, it's a simple swap. I did the swap and bought the console off ebay for $120 and went to lowes and picked up the 4 bolts. Watch ebay or the classifieds on the forums. I wouldn't pay ~$600 from the dealer.
