Few Noob Questions

First off, do FX4s come with Homelink or is it an option?

Secondly, what kind of mirror mount is used? Just the standard button that they have been using for years?

Thanks!

The visor has a notched out section in it, but you have to go for a no guts no glory disassembly of your visor on the kitchen table. I pulled 2 different home link moduled out of Chrysler sebrings at a local wrecker. Either would have fit perfectly in the visor, but only one actually worked with my craftsman opener. Do a Google search for escape homelink and you will find a great write up on it. The process is identical, I followed it, and it works flawlessly.

That's what I'll end up having to do because I just realized the truck I'm looking at has the reverse camera.

I added homelink, you need a rolling code one IIRC (do a search theres a thread w/ all the info). Cost for the module was about $20 shipped on ebay and then about a 1 1/2 hours on install my first time, and the other 3 i did took about an hour.

Mounting it in the visor or some where else?

I did the same with my '08 F250. Works perfectly, but getting the visor apart was a PITA^2!

it's not too bad, it makes you a little nervous the first time you do it but if you follow the instructions you will be fine.

and don't be too worried about stretching the fabric if you don't completely pull it off (i didn't, just enough to make the couple cuts needed) when you go to put the fabric back in it tucks in nice and tight

I had read that thread and I'll be using it as a guide. Just wished they had some pictures of the cuts or where they cut. I'm right in seeing that the visor has the outside fabric and that inner sock material, right?

I was just looking through a online OEM Ford parts catalog trying to find the visor with the Homelink. It's saying $95. Does any one have a PN# for a Black visor with Homelink and Illuminated Mirror? I've got an email into the company to verify.

Black visor? No such thing that I know of. I don't think there is any such thing as an OEM visor with Homelink. Wasn't an available option. Can you link this online catalog, and page number?

lariat with black interior would have had homelink, unless they do that funky 2nd tone head liner like the 09 fx4's

if it was me i'd rather spend $20 and spend 1 hour of time than spend $95+.

Ok, I knew it wasn't an option on the FX4 when I ordered it. They really are easy to install though.

Not really sure what the color is... I thought it was Black but it could possibly be the stupid grey that they have done in the past.

The cheapest genuine Homelinks on eBay were $40 including shipping. It's not worth it to me if I can get it for $80, no shipping, etc. I can get OEM Ford parts at cost so I'm sure my price will be cheaper than this online distributor. Why didn't I go through him if anyone asks? He's on vacation and I'm impatient.
