Trailer brake control?

Worth getting? I don't even know how they work. Biggest thing I tow is a 20' bass boat.

What kind of brakes are on your trailer?

Just the kind that get appplied through the hydraulic cylinder in the tongue. Not electronic.

Your trailer has to have electric brakes for it to be useful, so it won't do any good on your boat. However, if you are ordering a new truck, I would order it with it, you know, just in case! It will be integrated if you ever need it, and it will be an additional selling point when that time comes.

X2 what fordmantpw said. Only works if you have electric brakes. I tow a boat that has the brakes if the trailer goes back when not in reverse and the brake control doesn't work with it. I think you have to have a 7 pin trailer harness for it to work. As far as how it works, you have to manualy apply the brake when needed.

if you dont need it save your money. If later on you do need it, the cost of it is $100 and takes 5 minutes to install. have to pay for a flash update which can range from free to 1 hour charge. Either way at worse you break even.

Is it the PCM needs to be reflashed or another module?
