Want to replace passenger side mirror
Want to replace passenger side mirror
Hi,
I have a 2011 F150 Lariat that has a convex mirror on the passenger side. The mirror is heated and has a turn indicator but it is not located in the glass part of the mirror. I want to replace the convex glass mirror with a flat mirror. I have seen posts on several forums that indicate this is not a big job but I have two questions:
Where can I get a flat glass mirror to replace my convex mirror? I have
searched online and spoken with the local dealer and several glass
companies in town and no one can help.
I know that some mirror replacement do not require the old glass to
be removed. They use a double sided tape to attach the new glass
over the top of the old mirror. My question is, if you use a double sided
tape, will my new mirror still defrost?
Thanks for taking time to reply.

if you simply stick a new mirror on top of the stock mirror, you will have a couple issues:
-the defroster will not work
-you wont get a full contact between mirrors, as the stock mirror is curved.
i have been trying to find a replacement as well. since the mirror is curved, you really dont get the blind spots.... however, i really like to see my back tires when backing up. so, for now i put a blind spot mirror in the upper corned like the driver side... it works for now, but doesnt match right.
if i do ever find a replacement, i will post. it is easy to change the mirror though, only take a couple minutes to pop it right off. the first time you ever do it is a little tricky, but after that its not too bad.
