New rear end packages confusing

I went to the Ford online build and price site months ago and built a 2011 F150 4x4 with an ecoboost, it gave me a 3.55 limited slip rear end standard.
I just built the same truck in a 2012, it gave me a 3.31 non limited slip rear end standard.
Why did they give me taller gears? I am afraid it won't tow as well with the 3.31 gears.
I also priced having a 3.31 rear end with an e-lock option, instead of the regular 3.31 non limited slip rear end. I could not believe the e-lock rear end is $3,795.00 cheaper than the regular rear end. I would think it would be the other way around. And does the new non limited slip rear end mean it is just a regular one legger?
Can sombody please help me understand these changes?

Thanks, Matt

Go back and look again. To get the 3.31 locker, it requires a 4x2 and not a 4x4.
