Guys I know about the cam phasers on the 5.4. I my be just Paranoid after my first oil change I here a slite low knock at idle when hot it is not injectors because they tick this is a knock that you can here more at the pass side. It maybe a normal noise for this engine, Hard to believe It is a bad phaser at this low mileage.

 

Get a video of it, my guess it is the injectors echoing (next to a building, in a drive thru, etc).

 

Was the oil change done at Ford?

 

I had a 5.4 in my '04 and it was always noisy! My '10 with the 4.6 is much better!

 

No I always change my on oil. This maybe a normal 5.4 noise. I used 5-20 motorcraft and a 820 motorcraft filer. It is the loudest on the drive side wheel well right over the tire. It is a faint knock as so you put your foot on the gas it's gone or if the fan comes on you can't here it. Maybe just paranoid with new truck??

 

The reason I ask is because my brother in law and I did oil changes together on different cars (not my truck) and the oil we used caused both our cars to knock. After 3 days the knock never went away. We both did oil changes again with Mobil 1 and there was no more knock. Hows your truck now? By the way the oil we used was Syntec.
