Well said. This is my first 4wd and it's also my first with traction control. The thing is I did wot the first time and after a blink of an eye TC engaged. This last time it didn't but the 2nd time was ice, first was packed snow so it might have been gripping a little more with the front wheels to engage the TC. I've driven for 12 years in snow (last 4 in CO, first 8 in PA) and snow in the east is a lot different. I never needed 4wd in PA. Had snow tires but in colorado it would be dumb to get snow tires because it melts off the roads quicker so you are driving on dry pavement so they wear fast. I just threw weight in the back and was usually good. I actually prefer RWD vehicles for snow.

PS: you still don't get it that I never said squat about an elocker other than I have one. As to direct injection, I will avoid that as long as possible. As for 4x4, never needed it, never had one except in my Kawasaki Mule, and don't intend to.

I used the e-locker because that's what this thread is about. The other stuff is all things people on here call "new fangled" and complain about. I just grabbed a few examples to use.

As for the aluminum, it has been used to make airplanes since WW1. If it can be stuck together and put man on the moon and fly through the air at Mach 3 I bet in can haul some rocks in a truck bed. Speaking of aircraft, who was the Ford CEO when the aluminum F150 was designed; it was Alan Mullay, who was the CEO for Boeing before coming to Ford. If anyone in the world knows about putting aluminum together it's Boeing. I’d bet the farm on him calling up some folks from the aircraft world for a few pointers before he let the biggest profit maker be completely changed. I get liking old stuff because it’s cool and using something until it’s reached its life limit, I do that myself. What I don’t get is why people pick and choose what new stuff is ok and what is not instead of examining the details of the product and making an informed decision.
