Oil Filters

I have a 2010 F150 with 5.4 it is the 3rd oil change is it OK to use a CM-6731-FL820 racing oil filter? I have been using a FL820S with motorcraft 5-20 full syn oil..

It will be fine, but honestly I don't see much of a benefit over the regular MC filter on a stock engine. Not worth the extra cost IMO.

It is a nice filter though. There is some good info in the link below.

Thanks for the fast reply! Do you think it does a better job then the stock 820S? I was reading somewhere I think it was bobtheoilguy site where someone from wix said not to use the racing filter because it was not intended for street use?? That did not make sense to me.

I think the racing filter flows like 7% better IIRC. It also has more filter surface area.

Ford says its ok to use on the Mustang, so I don't see it hurting anything.

racing Filters

Racing filters typically flow more oil and therfore have larger openings in the media. More floww less filtration

That is what I thought also but I read this and it said differant. I dont think this is a full blown race filter it is more of a high end steet filter. Read the link and tell me what you think.
