I've debated this modification to my black F150 platinum several times, and have always come back to the stock look of my truck. The darkness of the heads really clashes with the pop of the satin grille, and you'll notice it a lot more on overcast days. The grille looks almost out of place. It will look good, just maybe not as great as stock, in my opinion.

I had my platinum grille painted to match the body paint and now I'm looking to get HD headlights to finish off the look. I'll probably do it in the next week or two and I'll post up pics. I agree, though, that the factory headlights should be retained with the factory satin grille.

This is exactly what went through my mind when I was contemplating new head lights; the "chrome" of the housing accentuates and completes the satin grille of the Platinum, so I decided to go with chromed aftermarkets.

In the same vein, I now think the chrome trim around the tail lights also act as accentuating "book ends" for the large, long Platinum appliqué panel. I do want to go LED array tail lights (not a simple bulb replacement), but all aftermarket ones are either smoked, all red, or all chrome (way too much for my taste), and a DIY project to convert the existing OEM tail light into an LED array will require you to use Nite Shades to conceal the "retrofit" LED board placed into the bulb housing area.

Since I have a black Platinum, I will try some smoked Recon's and see how that fares. I could always go back to stock if it bothers me enough...
