I'm thinking the first tire is a P 275......... and the second one is a LT 275....

I guess this based on the tire pressures. My '10 came with P rated tires...... of the same size.

I am just trying to figure out the weight of my tires. If only 39lbs then upgrading to 33" tires that weight 55lbs will be a big differnce than if they weight 49lbs.

The speed rating and load capacity should be molded into the side of the tire.

Thanks BillP603

I just checked and yes it is the 39lb 114T tire.

So upgrading to Nitto 275/70/18's would be 16lbs more per tire.

Not sure but I think P is for passenger vehicle and LT is for light truck. I also got the P275's. The LT's should look a lot more rugged. The sidewall should be stronger on the LT's.

The construction of the LT version of the tire is going to be more robust, thus heavier, a firmer/rougher ride and a bit higher price.

If you just do normal truck stuff, carrying nothing hugely heavy, not a lot of heavy towing.. P is ok, lots of off-road, rough terrain, heavy loads, LT would be worth checking out.

If you've never run LT tires before, be aware, the ride difference between P and LT is fairly significant. I noticed when I changed tires on my old '04 to LT from P, the ride was a lot stiffer.

Thank You! I have not seen it stated it like that before. I've hauled heavy before, but not often nor very far. And I keep the speed down.

I'm now certain that I'll go with P tires this spring when I get new ones!
I like the smooth ride when empty.
