new svt, roush, saleen

Anyone hear about the new lightning? I read yesterday that ford has been working on one since last fall and has a 9.0l UFO motor? With 790hp? And has anyone heard if roush or saleen is making a f150 again?

Seen it on some website just surfing the web. It said its a secret and someone blabed. If its true is be one bad *** truck. Probably the biggest gas engine ever.

first off I dont believe it one bit

Why? because there is no way they would make a 9L engine... id imagine a supercharged 6.2 with 600hp

Yeah, I think I read this article too. I am pretty sure it also said that the new lightning would be a convertible, be able to fly, and run on hopes and dreams!

only thing i could find about it was a photoshopped raptor tucking the 35's, mentioning the same engine. but to me sounded like someone joking around

I'm looking now. I was on my phone looking thru stuff yesterday for about three hours at work. It was a website, then had a link to a forum then had a link to some magazine website. I searched 2012 ford lightning.

Here is one link.

It ain't true folks. Ford isn't building a 9.0 L engine. No way, no how.

And the post was NOT a serious one...I didn't even need to create a user name and sign in to see the pics to see it wasn't a serious post.

Just goes to show you that you've got to take what you find on the internet with a grain of salt.

No manufacturer that mass produces vehicles would ever put out such a monster displacement gas motor for such a small niche market; they will only take off-the-shelf engines and add to them. A 9 liter motor is akin to 550 cubic inches. To obtain that much displacement out of, say the 6.2L (378 ci), would require a custom crank with longer throws and a significant overbore, assuming there is enough metal around the cylinders to punch it out that much, and a tall enough deck height to accommodate the longer throws of the custom crank without hitting the bottom of the cylinders.

The biggest mass produced gas engine that I'm aware of that Ford put out is the 460 (7.5L).

If anything, any outrageously sized power-plant would only be a 'one-off' engineering test only vehicle.

You have to apply common sense on whatever you read on the internet...

There were some Ford trucks that had 528's in them (cant really remember what). Also the largest Ford engine is the GAA. 1100 cubic inches, 525hp/1000ftlbs. Developed as a V12 for WWII airplanes, but eventually dropped and created as a V8 for Sherman tanks

Yes, clarity should have been made on my part!

The largest COMMERCIAL AUTOMOTIVE motor... Besides, I don't think Ford would be pulling out WWII engines out to put into modern vehicles today!

I've never heard of the 528 in modern engines so I tried searching for a Ford 528 and only came up with custom strokers.
