REV app/hardware(iphone) installed...(pics)

The PLX WiFi OBDII scanner installed to send engine data to the REV app...

Boost gauge and other metrics

Tach (this seems a little sketchy, a slight delay...gotta look into that)

Data logging

I'm gonna run my truck at the strip Friday night and log the passes so I will report back at how well this system works... You can custom configure the display to show any combo of metrics that you want to see and log them real time..... Pretty neat. Hopefully it works well.

Unfortunately, it looks better then it works. There is a horrible delay on the display....its very noticeable when watching the RPMs and Boost.... about a 2 sec delay from the time you blip the throttle until you see it on the phone display..... I have talked to PLX about this and basically there is nothing that can be done. They blame it on the ECU in the truck and how fast it samples/exports to OBDII....

All that being said, i will be sending it back and hopefully getting a full refund ($199) less the shipping.

I will be installing a nice boost gauge instead to read live data off of the manifold and not using the ECU for info...

That's too bad to hear. I had the same device for my last car (bmw) and it was very responsive. Sometimes if too many items are being shown on the display, or too many combined on other displays it will be slow to refresh.
I dont have a truck yet, so I can't try it myself.

There are also cheaper models out there that i've heard work just as well:

I don't think it's the ecu, my x3 shows rpm's instantly, as for boost, the closest pid I could find was supercharger inlet pressure, but that was instant too lol

Yeah I know its not the ECU..... My buddy also has an eco and he uses the Innovate OT-2 OBDII WiFi scanner and their app on iphone and his is MUCH faster then the PLX Kiwi. Still not instantaneous by any stretch but damn sure better....

I am actually sending my PLX Kiwi WiFi unit back in for a return and I just bought a Defi electronic boost gauge. I didnt really want to add any additional gauges to my truck from an asthetics stand point but..... I want to see the boost and I want it accurate and instant so....I will be mounting the gauge on the pillar or on the dash right beside the pillar, tucked up as tight as I can get it in there. I will do an install thread since there seems to only be one boost gauge install thread I can find anywhere on the net for F150 eco.
