buyer beware!! Auto anything and extang

so i purchased a extang cover for my 2011 f150 from auto anything and found to have issues with it. after many phone calls with there customer service and they say it does fit the new body style and is a very good quality cover, but if i want to return it i would have to pay to ship it back. Well my last coversation with the customer service girl she said well why dont you just put it back on and send us the photos so we can see if your correct. HMM I guess the customer is always a lair now? so I, being me did one better i sent them the photos PLUS did this little video on youtube. so this is just a heads up for anyone that wants to use them for anything.

hope you guys enjoy!

I can definitely find fault with Extang not coming to the plate and manning up on this issue.

Not familiar with AutoAnything's return guarantee's nor their collective experience with this issue (seems this may be the first reported incident), but then again they are just the "middle" men going off of what the manufacturer has claimed should be compatible.

Ha ha, that video was funny! I've got the same exact truck and I definitely wouldn't be happy with that cover. Although, I think jswd60 is right, I think the 04-08 beds are the same as 2009-2011's. I say this cause I got a bedrug and the box said 2004-2008 models, even though I directly told Bedrug that I had a 2011 F-150. The bedrug fit perfect. So I think you got the cover for the right model, it's just an issue of a bad quality product.

the issue i find is its a little short and not real secure. if they would offered an a exchange that and took care to the shipping that would of been nice but they want be to pay to ship it back at my cost. I do like the hard tri fold just didnt want to spend the cash. now that i am thinking of it my life would of been easier if i went with that. lol.

Tell them it is defective and ask for a credit to your account. This is their return policy for defective items, "If an item arrives in an unacceptable condition as a result of a manufacturer defect, we will send you a pre-paid return shipping label.

To get a shipping label and a valid RA#, see our full return procedure above. Once you've received the label and the RA#, ship the defective item as instructed by your customer care specialist. Once we've confirmed the package is in transit we'll ship you a replacement or credit your account."

If after all of that they still don't agree to the return with a pre-paid shipping label, that is not your problem, report it to your bank and do a chargeback and buy a different one some place else. Then resell the defective one for your trouble.

Any chance your installing it wrong? Such as rails on the wrong side and the cover backwards?

no, one of the bars says "passenger side" from there its fairly easy. the whole thing just is poor construction.

I've purchased a few items from Auto Anything with no issues what so ever. I removed an Extang Black Max tonneau from my '07 and installed it on my '11. The '07 bed was always wet after it rained or when I washed it. The '11 stays dry. I would contact Extang and see if they can help you out.

Having installed a couple dozen of the Extang covers, I can guarantee you they fit.

You can't just slap it in place, it takes some tweaking to adjust the fit.
