want to drop rear of truck
want to drop rear of truck
i am thinking of lowering the rear of my truck for several reasons. One it is so high that its hard to see to back up. Two would it help mpg to drop the back?
What do I have to do to drop the back a couple of inches? OH, I also have airbags will that make a difference.
Thanks

2wd or 4wd? if 4wd remove your rear block. if 2wd get drop shackles.
and no it won't help mpg, saying that i'm sure someone will come in here and say that you will gain mpg and after a 2 page argument they will say their mpg went up .01

4wd.
you mean remove that steel block that is between the bottom of the springs and the axle? Looks like it is about 1 1/4" thick. I really need to drop it about 3" to make it level but once again I can't mess with my air bag installation as I need them.
thanks

The day that I brought my 2011 F150 home, I got underneath it and removed the cast blocks. My truck is a regular cab and I think that it looked horrible with the back jacked up on a short wheelbase. It leveled the truck. I took my tape measure and from the ground to the center of the "fender" is just about the same.
I don't know that it does anthing other than make me think it looks better. I guess it might lower the center of gravity a very small amount.

yes, remove that block. if you need to get lower after that look into different shackles. in the suspension section there is a "official" 4wd dropped thread started by coobies that might be of help.
