SYNC - BLUETOOTH Issues - Crapple
Anyone else having issues with the iPhone bluetooth?
I'm using the iPhone 3GS and since the latest update my bluetooth is acting stupid.
1) iPhone works for calls over the sync sometimes, then when it feels like it, it looses connection(not during a call but when making one) but doesn't say phone disconnected. I then need to hurry up and grab the phone right away to change the source back to the phone. Sometimes leaving people on the other line saying "Hello", "Hello" and sometimes hanging up because they can't hear me. - this one is pissing me off.
2) Streaming Bluetooth audio works but now all of a sudden the steering wheel controls no longer change the songs. - not the end of the world because I can grab my phone and use the controls there but still, it was working before with no issue.
Both of these were working fine up until the latest update from Crapple. I would hate to revert back because this last update is actually giving me longer battery life on the phone. Before the update my phone wouldn't make it over night without losing charge - now it's been at 60-70% in the morning. Not sure what it killed off that was draining the battery but it's much better now.
Anyone else having issues described above? Or similar?

On most vehicles the steaming bluetooth does not allow you to change songs by the steering wheel controls. Its that way on my wifes Sienna too. (Unless there is a way and I have not found it yet?)
I can't explain why it used to work and now all of a sudden it does not??

With my Iphone 4 and the most recent software update to 4.3.5 I believe, I have not had any issues yet with streaming. I can still make changes to the songs via the steering wheel controls.
My only issue is with mine being a 2011 and using the USB port, Sync sometimes doesn't boot up correctly when starting the truck. That unfortunately is a Sync issue that they haven't resolved yet unfortunately

I don't have any of those problems but with the new Sync update it doesn't understand me anymore. I will say phone and it will say line in, or I say phone => Call Home it says calling John Doe on cell WTF????
It didn't do that before the update. As far as disconnecting with BT, I found that if I turn off the BT streaming, meaning on aux choose line in instead of BT the phone connects fine. If I tried to stream via BT and use the phone section it screws up. I found this was because of the protocols on the phone. So I just don't stream and use Sat radio and all works well. Just wished it could understand me now or I could go back to the previous version. Good luck I hear iPhone 5 will support BT Txt which will work with our phones.

my phone works fine but the bluetooth steaming is hit or miss. it wont always connect saying that there is no bluetooth device connected even though my phone says its connected. i can then use the sync to make a call and try bt audio and still nothing. i usually have to turn off bt on my phone then back on again it will connect most of the time. then when it does the controls are a hit or miss sometimes there work sometimes they don't. its just a matter of Microsoft junk not work nice with Apple stuff. when i bought my truck they even told me that the iphones didnt work that good with the Microcrap sync.
Yeah, this blows...
The sync was working perfect with bluetooth streaming and with the phone before this update. They jacked something up.

I have never tried it, but you should be able to flash the sync back to your old firmware version. That is if its available for download or the dealer has it. Were you having any issues with it before?
It wasn't a sync update... it was a iphone update.
Ahhh Have you tried going in and deleting sync from the phone and the phone from sync and then re-pairing them?
Its definitely the phone..... I had the same problem on both of my other cars which had Pioneer Premeer head units with front USB ports..... I updated the the software in the phone, then what started happening was if I unplugged the phone to answer a call, then tried to reconnect it, neither head unit would detect it again.... I would have to turn the phone off completely, then back on. At that point it would connect again...
So I get the new F150 and guess what? the same damn thing happens... I can get mine to sync pretty easy and have no issues with the phone/bluetooth... BUT I can't NOT stream music from the phone to the Sony nav...I have to have the cord hooked up... I also sometimes get the incoming phone call that doesnt ring through the BT, its coming through the phone but they can't hear me....or sometimes I answer it through the BT/Sony Nav but they cant hear me.... Its weird... No doubt its a phone issue though...

Solved!
If anyone is having the same issues... I have solved my problems described in my first post with an update of the sync software.
There is a USB update directly for sync. It is located at http://www.syncmyride.com
Once the update was done my bluetooth streaming was working once again and my steering wheel controls were back. Nice feature to be able to change songs. Also no need for cables hanging all over the place if you stream bluetooth.

Pause, fast forward, repeat. It's all good.
All the controls function when bluetoothing to Slacker, also. (Except rewind, which isn't offered).
I've never experienced any problems, evah.
