2011 Remote Start and A/C Function
I've had my 2011 FX2 EB for 2 weeks now and have loved every minute of it. As with any vehicle, it takes some time to get used to and learn the various quirks and things of that nature, but I've noticed mine doing something a bit strange and I can't establish a pattern for it or find anywhere in the user manual about why it is doing this.
Since I'm in TX and its summertime, remote start has become my best friend. I usually start it up a few minutes before I go outside to get in and it usually is cool by the time I get in. HOWEVER, sometimes when I turn the key to On, the A/C will shut off for 5 seconds or so and then come right back on and sometimes it will seamlessly stay on like nothing happened. I have tried making sure all doors are closed, tried with doors open, etc to see if I could see when it would do it and when it wouldn't, but haven't figured it out.
I have gone into the settings of the remote start in the dash and changed it to leave it at "Last Temperature" when I remote start it, but again, it still sometimes does this and sometimes doesn't. I'm sure there are certain things or requirements it looks for to leave the A/C on seamlessly, but they are escaping me as to what they could do.
Thoughts? Ideas? Again I looked in the manual and couldn't find anything.

I don't understand all the particulars, but from what I understand when you remote start it it uses different A/C settings than what you last set it to. When you turn the key it goes back to whatever settings you last manually set them to.
I know exactly what you are describing, as I am trying to figure out the same thing myself.
I haven't found the pattern yet. But I'm in the same situation, as the remote start is a must with this AZ heat... Let us know if you figure it out, please!

If I am remembering it right the manual says something about the remote start uses the auto function set to 72 degrees. once the key is turned on then the ac resumes whatever mode/fan speed it was set to at the time the truck was turned off
Theoretically this would cause it to be seamless in its transition when you turn the key on. Most of the time it is and you would never know you put the key in. Other times, the A/C will go completely off for about 2-5 seconds like you just started the truck for the first time and then be fine again.
No real patter to it unfortunately. My theory right now involves the parking brake though. I always set it when I park in my driveway and sometimes at work so I'm testing that out now. Hopefully I can figure something out soon
Mine is doing the same thing. I don't think it has anything to do with the temperature setting, because when it switches over seamlessly, the fan automatically adjusts to what is required.
I had thought that it has to do with a time issue. That the remote start HAD to run for a certain amount of time before you could use the key and have everything stay running. If you jumped into the car before that allotted time, the electronics and AC system would reset and go through it's normal star-tup procedure.
This is just a theory and I have not been able to prove it or test it.

Mine does this as well.... As soon as I get in the truck before I insert the key, the ac blower will be on high and temps on full cold....once I stick the key in and turn to the on position, the ac blower slows way down for a few seconds, then eventually comes back up to speed where ever I had it set at before I shut the truck off previously.... I believe the AC/remote start system just defaults to full cooling if it is set for cooling in the first place....
