2011 F-150 shutting off at low rpms
2011 F-150 shutting off at low rpms
Has anyone experienced a 2011 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 with the 5.0 v8 completely shutting off at low rpms? I say shutting off instead of stalling because the entire truck goes dead electronics and engine. The truck has done this no fewer than 10 times this past weekend; the truck is currently at the dealer. The truck has done this under a typical electrical load (radio and a/c). It's simply not the engine stalling, the entire truck's electrical and engine all shut off. You can put the truck in neutral and it fires right back up. The truck has approximately 4,500 miles.
Of course the dealer says that they can't replicate the problem, so I'm leaving it there until they can. Codes have been run, but no problems identified.
I suspect something electrical, but looking to point service tech in the right direction if you guys have heard of anything out there causing this problem.
Thanks

I know this is an old post but I just bought a brand new 2012 FX4 super crew two weeks ago and this past weekend this happened. I was at a gas station and was backing up when the engine died and the screen by the speedometer said "low oil pressure". I hope its the only time it happens but after your post I feel it won't be. Did they ever find the cause of it?

Same Issue
2012 5.0 S-Crew. 3900 Miles - check engine light, died in an intersection. Would start but then would die again - over and over.
Was towed to the dealer - awaiting the diagnosis....
As of right now - it is being described as a defective Purge Valve solenoid.
Let's hope this is the last service I will need.

Ultimately ended up being a defective Mass Air Sensor which caused the Purge Valve solenoid to malfunction (at least thats what they said). Anyway - can't believe the posts I am seeing regarding similar issues in multiple forums. My nephew has a Ford Fusion that has randomly died on the highway twice - vary hazardous. After the engine goes off, the engine codes go away - they can't determine the issue...
I sure miss my old cars from when I was a kid!!
