Buying new Truck, Need Wheel Help !

Hey guys-

I'm new here. I have been lurking for several weeks while making a decision on my new truck. After 10 years of driving a Chevy (01 Silverado, 05 Avalanche), I have decided to make the switch to Ford. I have decided on a 2011 Lariat 4X4 SCREW. She's going to be pretty much loaded out. QUESTION: I am having the dealer swap out the 20" Aluminum Wheels ($595 MSRP) for the stock Lariat wheels. I believe the speedometer works on the OD and that the OD of the 18" vs. 20" is the same. Is that true? Should I be worried about anything?

Also, I am trying to get them to remove the factory step bars ($695 MSRP). I will then add an after market bar. If I don't have bars, I would have to pick my wife up to get her in the truck! I was thinking about the Westin Platinum Series, but wanted to see if any of you guys had other suggestions. The truck is Tuxedo black with black leather, no chrome pkg, just the standard chrome grill.

Thanks in advance!

You're right the tire diameter determines the speedo and odo accuracy whether they are 18 or 20 inch diameter. I never was a fan of 20's but my truck came with the optional 20's with 32" Pirelli's. I really like the machined finish with the coating compared to keeping up with the chrome wheel's I had in the past. The 33" Nitto's I put on make the wheel's look better in my opinion and the stock running board's are functional but a PITA to clean. Good luck in the decisions with your new truck, ought to look great!

I would keep the 20"s on it and resale them. They go for a good penny on Ebay or any other site. With that money you could get a great tire and aftermarket wheel for about the same cost. I really don't see them taking the step bars off and lowering the price, if they do then you got a deal. I'm not a huge fan of the Westins. I prefer the N-fabs, but with a Lariat they may appear too "offroad".
Good luck with the truck and have fun with it.

Unless you plan on going with 35 or bigger tires, the 20" wheels seem to big IMO. The 18" are just right, plus getting tires and wheels in 18" will save you money. Also not a fan of Westin Bars. I like the oval look. I have Rhino nerf Bats, give them a look.

Congrats on the truck!

I personally like the bars I bought from autoanything made by rampage http://www.autoanything.com/nerf-bars/61A4416A0A0.aspx

They fit nice and tight to the truck and look good in all black. They are cheap and I will probably need to Linex them to keep them looking good, but at 6" wide they are a great bar.

Well you guys were right about the bars, they would not remove them. They claimed they didn't have a truck to put them on. However, they did remove the wheels and drop the price by $600. They also added the rubber mats for me at no charge. I've gotta say that buying a car can be an easy experience if you find the right dealer. I lucked out and found out one was a jerk and moved on to another to get treated very fairly. Looking forward to taking delivery of the new truck Monday when we get back from the beach!
