F150 shuddering problem-only long beds?

OK, I have been reading all of the posts about Ford having problems with the 2011 F150's having a shuddering problem. It appears it is pretty widespread and since I will be in the market for a new truck soon I need more information. I have read everything I can find on this subject and have learned a lot. What I can't find out is if this problem is exclusive only to the long bed trucks or do the short beds have this problem as well.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could answer this question for me.

Thanks in advance for taking time to reply.

Most of what I have heard about is on the long bed crews. I think they have a 2 piece driveshaft on them. I have a shortbed crew and never had a problem with mine.

I have a 2010 supercrew short bed and have a shuddering issue that they haven't been able to diagnose. It's driving me crazy. They say it's nothing with the engine or transmission. I have no idea.

Hi - I have the shuddering problem as well on my 2011 supercrew with the long bed. The problem is amplified when the bed is loaded down. I brought mine in to the dealer. They put 500 lbs in the bed and noticed the shudder immediately. It happens from 0-30 mph.

The truck is going in next week for 3-4 days and the dealer is working with Ford to isolate the issue. I'll let you all know what they find.

The shudder is pretty minimal when the bed isn't loaded. When it is loaded with significant weight, it is very concerning.

If anyone wants the dealer to really experience the shudder, load down your truck bed with 500-600 lbs. It will get their attention.

Does your shudder go away after 30mph? How do you feel it?

I Think I may have the same problem on my 11 screw short bed. There is a noise i hear coming from the back of the truck under the bed. It almost sounds like a loose shock mount or shackle mount, i hear notice it more when the truck is driven on a slight angle, like pulling into a driveway where one rear wheel is low and the other high. Going to dealer next week for another issue, will have them check it out. On another note< the reason for the trip to the dealer is to have a whole new driveshaft assembly put in.....
The truck would make 3 to 4 hollow clicking sounds going from forward to reverse. Also would happen when you put foot on brake and put some load on it. My friend who is a trans specialist says the drive shafts are hollow and where they are laser welded thay brake all the time. Will see what happens.

Yes it does. Over 30 mph, it is smooth as butter.

I feel it in the steering wheel, gas pedal, seat, and arm rest.

My dealer is working with Ford to isolate and fix the problem.

Frustrated!

So I brought my truck into the dealership along with my ski boat. They loaded it down and noticed the shudder right away. The dealer then proceeded to hook my boat up to another supercrew in the lot and loaded that vehicle. The lot truck shuddered as bad as mine did. The dealer called the Ford hotline and Ford said the shudder is normal. B.S.!!! This frustrates me because the service manager acknowledged the shudder is considerable.

This shudder is driving me crazy and Ford customer service isn't willing to assist me with this! I love everything else about the truck other than this major problem.

C'mon Ford - So far you have shown me that you are no better than GM or Dodge. Why should I consider you number one?

I had it when I came to a stop. They put shims in the drive shaft. There's a TSB on it.

My Ford dealer emailed me yesterday and mentioned that a new TSB has been released for 2011 F150s experiencing shudder on acceleration. I'll let everyone know what he has to say.
