USB Port?

Decided to buy an '11 F-150. Question about the USB port. I can just plug my thumb drive in and play the mp3's randomly through the standard factory radio I'm assuming. Are there any limitations? Does it work well?

Thanks,

Matt

My sister has the USB ports in her '10 Mustang, and thats exactly what she does. It works just fine and she hasnt had any problems with it.

Thats the general idea. Or plug in anything else that uses USB. To me the best feature is the USB2 inside the dash. Load your entire music collection on a laptop hard drive, run the cable through the dash, and hide the HD in the glove box. Haven't used the CD player since I did this easy mod.

yes it does work well. i have a 500gb drive plugged into my usb2 port. just remember you need to use fat32 formatting for the sync system to read your drive correctly.

^^ this.

if you have a mac, it's super easy to format the hard drive.

search for the usb2 mod, i'd suggest it over the regular usb just for the fact you can hide it out of the way.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully my dealer won't have trouble ordering my F-150. I decided on an XLT Supercab with Red Candy exterior. The color is supposed to be reformulated and available again under a different code.

Its a great feature, I use it more than my sat radio, and i just have a 4gig micro sd card pluged into it, sticks out like 1/4in, dont even notice it. Plus sync commands work pretty good recognizing song names, artists etc., as long as their listed properly.

Micro SD in the USB port? 1/4 inch? I'm missing something here. Some kind of stealth adapter?

Yea, it's like a thumb drive that accepts a micro sd card, so it's real small, not much bigger than the card. Got it at target.

there's a 40g hard drive right in the head unit. You can download cd's directly into the jukebox and leave it there.

Interesting, I'm assuming it only works with cds, and can't burn from a thumb drive. I'm going to have try it.
