5.0L Coyote Emblem
1 Attachment(s)
Saw these on ebay, thought they might look nice on the new rig. I like these better than the mustang 5.0 badges some guys are putting on. Same placement as the ecoboost badges.

They are nice quality, and look like they will hold up over time pretty good. I ran across them when trolling the mustang boards. |
Damn when did they start calling them Coyotes? I'm a Phoenix Coyotes STH. God willing we don't lose our team, I'll have to get one of these!

i think it was directed at the 5.0 in the mustang though. |

back in the design phase of the motor....
i think it was directed at the 5.0 in the mustang though. The "coyote" name can also be extended to the truck engine considering it is pretty much the same engine with the exception of the tuning, exhaust manifolds, and oil cooler. Technically I think it is still considered a modular engine (I know there are arguments on this) but Ford did make a point of keeping the bore spacing the same as the 4.6L Triton so they could use their same tooling in their engine plants. However, from what I have read the similarities end there. I *think* the 3.7L is considered part of the duratec family. Not too sure where the ecoboost falls in. |

Yup, some say it was to pay homage to AJ Foyt, and the first DOHC Ford V8 back in the 60's. Here is a link to a very long article about the design of the engine: http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...ine/index.html I especially like the part where they comment that the "coyote" name is fitting since the first time they put the engine on the dyno it howled like a coyote when maxed out.
