I would have waited and rented a truck in the meantime.

It doesnt really matter if they cant locate one within 200 miles. They can bring them from anywhere. My last two trucks came from iowa which is around 500 miles of where the dealership was. They just do a dealer trade sometimes or straight purchase and they have a guy go up there and brign it down to you. Mine took 2 days to get once i found the trim with the options i wanted. max motors plug for ya! they are awesome. most people fly in and get there cars and drive home. or they will bring them to you.

Always worth trying. My dealer told me that dealers in general are somewhat getting away from dealer trades. At least they do a lot less then in the past.
Wouldn't keep anyone from buying off the dealer that has it in stock and fly in to pick it up. Although i buy at my local dealer only. I don't even entertain the thought of buying elsewhere

I have always owned and loved Fords. If the dealer didn't have the trim I wanted then I would settle for a different model or same model with different options. When I bought my 2010 FX4 I wanted the nav but the dealer didn't have one. Everything else about the truck was identical so I went ahead and bought it because I love Ford. In the end I was happy because I probably saved about 2 grand for not getting nav and sony stereo system. My $100 GPS Garmin does great with nav

Sounds like a dealer issue. They probably didn't have the alottment at the time you ordered and they had to wait.

Did you get a VIN from the dealer? Did you call Ford Customer Service?

Agreed. It's amazing what Ford charges for the nav head unit, when you can get a Garmin for $100 or less in some cases. And IMHO, the Garmin units are more intuitive and just plain work better than any in dash unit I've ever used. Of course that may have changed in the last few years though.

why would you limit yourself to one dealer? for all you know you could go to a dealer 20 miles away and save 2k.

i shopped around and got an fx4 with luxury package, 20's, running boards, sony sound system for less than a $1000 more than local dealers wanted for a fx4 with only the plus pacakge (around 3k difference in sticker)

A buddy did this and was able to negotiate the cost of the flight out of the cost of the truck.

Agreed, I ended up going about 310 miles to get mine. Drove my old truck down and my new truck back . I also was able to get more selection and a better price because there are more dealerships where I went, hence more competition. Definitely worth the drive. Helps that I also have a few college buddies that live there as well, so it was an excuse to go see them.

I got my truck out of state and drove it home. It was only 240 miles though.

Sorry for your luck OP. Not getting your truck in a timely manner than settling for junk.

I can understand not being able to wait that long I don't think I would be able to either. No offense but I wouldn't have settled for a GMC. Maybe an older model of Ford thats on the lot or one with different options. But thats me so if you like your new truck and your happy with it then good! Thats what matters! Although I don't have good faith in GMC or Chevy I can guess that the better you take care of it and do the regular maintenance on it the longer it will last and that goes for any vehicle. Good luck buddy

I would be pissed waiting on a truck I ordered, but wouldnt buy a chevy, gmc, or dodge. I would have went to another dealer. If they want to sell a truck they will bring one from any where to get that sell. I traveled about 2 hours to buy my current truck.

13 weeks is a little longer than average, but not long enough to cancel. The problem is you ordered it right after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. This caused major delays. Ford wasn't the only one who had delays. In fact some GM truck plants had to shut down completely. At least Ford could keep going. Then there was the shipping delays caused by Allied shipping going on strike for GM and Chrysler which in turn affected Ford. Too bad you didn't think this through logically and just waited a little more or bought one off the lot. Max Tow 6.5 EB are not on every lot, but they are not rare either. It sounds like you wanted to get revenge on Ford. But you only hurt yourself in the end.
