Seems I have more than gear ratios to think about...
The FX4 is just about out due to the open diff and lack of LS?
Want leather so that pushes me to a Lariat I guess...and I'm not a big fan of the light fake wood look of them
Got some work to do....

you may have understood the previous posts incorrectly. the FX4 is by no means an open diff truck. it has a manual axle lock that can be locked in 4wheel drive only, unless you do the raptor mod that you can keep it locked up to 20mph in 2wd.

a locker is superior in every way to a limited slip in terms of traction, but otherwise when the locker is not engaged, it does behave like a open diff.

For every day 2wd driving in semi slippery conditions at normal city speeds it will not be superior.
When Im out hunting and crawling around in the goo yes but otherwise 90% of the time the LS is a better option.....
Is a locker going to do me any good at city speeds in 2wd if I suddenly hit some slippery road?
We have alot of that up here....

i wasnt saying you were wrong, just the way you were wording your posts made it seem to me like you didnt fully understand the differential options available to you.

I spent a little time on Ford.ca and cannot find any option, in any config that I tried to give me a 4.10 option. Maybe it is a U.S. only option?

No, the "build and price" format on the U.S. and Canadian websites are totally different. You don't get the massive mix and match feature on the Ford Canada site.

After a call to my friendly neighborhood Ford Dealer Sales staff, they confirmed that the 4.10 not an available option to order in Canada, and even funnier........ IS NOT ALLOWED IN CANADA! Even if you bought one in the US, you would have to convert it into 3.73 to be able to pass the safety/emission test to be able to register it.

How's that for stupid?

3.73 is the best tow friendly gear Ford is allowed to put on Canadian destined trucks.

Borso, this info was given to me by a salesman named David at Maclin Ford in the Calgary Auto Mall.

Thats interesting, especially since they were using the raptor in canada for the Ice Road Truckers...And raptor=4.10 gear ratio. Can you guys not buy a raptor up there?

I use the 373's on my 2010 F150 and pull a 4200lb OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer alot. Had the same setup with my previous 2004 F150. I get real good gas mileage using this setup with both trucks - 18-21 MPG. My third oldest truck had the 355s in it and didnt have the towing power I was needing... My neighbor has the 410s in his F150 and pulls a 3300 lb POPUP and he gets in the 16-18MPG gas mileage range - I think we both have the 5.4 gas engine...

I am happy with my 373s

I just checked the Ford.ca website for the raptor build gear. They definitely do have 4.10 in a Canadian build Raptor. Now this really makes no sense. How can they justify putting it standard, (and the only option) for a raptor, but not even offer it as an option for an FX4? Stupid, flat out logic defying stupid.

Well the sooner or later came a lot sooner than expected.
Will be picking up my Ecoboost extended cab FX4 on Wednesday morning.
Drove the FX4 and a Lariat 5.0L with 3.55s back to back and it was really no comparison for me.....the Eco and 3.73s felt amazing.
Between that and liking the interior and exterior look of the FX4 much better not having LS didn't matter, guess I will flip it to 4x4 more on crappy days up here!
