Rental Chevy vs My FX2

I recently had to put my 2010 FX2 in the shop to have minor rear damage repaired (some ditz backed into me in the parking lot at work). I received a 2010 Chevy Silverado LT as a rental...

3 thing stood out on the chevy that I wish Ford could match...

1) the AC on this things puts my FX2 to shame
2) the windshield wipers also function much better
3) the TPMS actually tells you which tire is low.

Now that being said...

the chevy interior is butt ugly. Looks like they are stuck in the 80's.

Of course these are minor and in no way would I go back in time to replace my FX2...

The Chevy Silverado TPMS may tell you which tire is low but when you rotate the wheels you have to reprogram each individual wheel or sensor which is a pain in the ***.

Yes the ac in the new fords sucks bad. When I had my sierra that thing got ice cold quick. In my ford its on max ac all the time and the only time it gets cold is in the morning!

I can agree on those points. I had a 2008 silverado before I had my f150, and I noticed many of the same things you did. The a/c is much worse on the f150's, and the same goes for the heater as well. While it is nice to have the tpms show the actual pressure on each tire, the sensors on my old truck gave me nothing but trouble the entire time I owned it. On the last point-yes, the interiors of the chevy's are pretty bad. With that said, the truck has been around for what, 5 years now? It is the oldest truck on the market other than the titan. Plus, the ltz's arent too bad. Fake wood trim and all that, but it was a clean design. An example-

The layout was very functional. I find myself searching for buttons in my f150 from time to time, never had that problem in my silverado. With all that said, never once have I regretted trading in my silvy for an f150. The interior on my FX4 is much nicer, the sync is something that I love, Ford's current motors blow everything except chevy's 6.2L out of the water, and there are quite a few small things(like a 36 gallon gas tank) that I appreciate on the F150 as well.

I think they meant that if the TPMS in the f150 told you which tire was low, then you would have to reset the TPMS everytime the tires were rotated. I just rotated mine a week ago and have had no issues with the TPMS.

Well, lets not forget the GM 6.2L only makes 408 HP with PREMIUM fuel. It only makes 387 beans on 87 octane. All of Fords motors make their claimed power on 87 octane.

right now the ac is good in that truck give it a few years. our 08 2500 hd work truck ac does not work. so working outside in 100+ temp sucks just a bit. goes in the shop every other friday (day off) to try and get fixed.

The interior is too bland in the Chevy's IMO. Has the same shape to it my 96 F150 had. The AC in my truck doesn't get cold either, not very comfortable on 90-100* days. The heater doesn't get very warm on those -10* nights either. That's about the only gripe I have with my truck. Not sure what Ford did with their HVAC but my '96 would burn your hand if you left it in front of the vent too long and the AC was as cold as could be.

The auto trac feature on 4x4s is awesome in the GM stuff, especially up north here.
Dodge has it too....come on Ford!
Interior storage on the LTZs is hard to come by and interior seems cozy for an average sized guy....Id hate to be a big guy!

I am GM ASEP and sir, you do have to re-program the TPMS on GM cars and SUV vehicles. If you don't, the little tire light on the dash comes on and stays on. I do believe after 08 sometime, that you don't have to re-program the TPMS. I know this for a fact, as a tech at the former Forbes Chevrolet dealership in PA, I had several customers return due to that stupid tire light. It was sort of a P.I.T.A. to do too, you had to turn the key to 'on' and back to 'off' 3x quickly to get it into 'learn' mode and the horn would blow to let you know it was ready. Then there is this plastic tool that looks like something from the 80's and hold it at the sensor on all 4 wheels. The best one was the RF, the horn would blow right in your ear

^^ forgot to say in my earlier post, tire light on our truck has been on since it was a couple months old. every time it gets reset/re-programed it comes right back on within a week.
