bds xd monster question?
bds xd monster question?
So I finally bought a lift (bds 6") for my baby
, which is getting delivered later today. My current setup on the truck is a leveling kit, w/ a block in the rear with 35x12.5 r20 toyo open country mt on the stock fx4 20’s. I am pretty sure I will have to wait until I buy after market wheels to get the lift installed. Does anyone if I could run the fx4 rims with the 35’s? I’m pretty sure its going to be way too much backspacing. This leads me to my second question, on the BDS site it says they recommend 5.5” of backspacing, the xds I want are 18mm offset, which are 5.71” backspacing. I think they will be alright but just want to make sure before I buy some, I have looked quite hard all over the f150 forum and didn't see anyone running a BDS with the xd monsters on the 09+.

yeah, i figured that's what i would have to do, but i wanted to get some input out of people who have the lift. also, i was wondering how the ride quality compares to stock, but I'll figure that out when i get the lift put on.
So i guess Im looking for a different rim...
according to BDS website you can run stock 20s, and they make monsters with different backspacing.

Yeah, I know but seeing as I need 20's for the Toyo's I really don't have that many backspacing options, I think 5.71 is the lesser of the two bs options I have. But you got me thinking, don't the stock rims have a high bs? Wouldn't that mean I should be able to clear the monsters.

ideally 4.5" backspacing is what you want. less is better in a lifted application. lower the number the farther out the wheel will stick.
Well if the stock, backspacing is around 5.5 maybe I'll try to run it with the lift, I know it may not be ideal to run such a high bs but Im not a huge fan of the tires sticking way out far.
I love em, I've had them on my 05 and 09 and they always seem to ride just to my liking, firmer than stock but still pretty smooth
Yeah a buddy has them on his, I was just wondering cus I think I might go to a coilover setup for a touch more height.

. Also how do the bilstein's ride?
