traction control disable
traction control disable
I want to disable the traction control and any other system that takes away engine power when i need it most. I am very confident in my driving ability in the snow. With that said, this truck makes me second guess myself. In the rare instance that the truck doesn't want to turn i want to be able to slide the rear end to make the turn. The new f150 is unable to do this due to the computer canceling the power.
I've read the manual... hold the button 5 secconds... yea, that doesnt work. the seccond i swing the rear end around it starts doing it again... this thing is going to drive me into a ditch.
Is this due to trailer sway control or is there any way to make it like the traction control is non existant?

5 seconds isnt exactly accurate. pressing the traction control button once will limit its intrusion, pressing it and holding it until the sliding icon flashes again completely disables the system
otherwise, the only real way to completely, 100% shut everything down except for the trailer sway control and the ABS is to get a tuner like an SCT3

hold it until the swirvy thing flashes and stays on your dash. then it is completely turned off. Now if you put it in 4x4 you have to do it again. hold it until it flashes and stay solid. also some of the trucks have ELD. pull the 4x4 button out and the rear locks...usually on the fx4 trucks. I struggled with this for a minute at work when i almost got stuck. Touch it once it only turns off a portion
Just make sure you do it in 4x4 or you will lose power like you stated above.

Yeah it turns off only until you get over 40mph or something like that then it kicks back in automatically as soon as the rear end kicks out. Ive tried holding it for along time alot still kicks in pretty irritating i wish you could turn it off entirely
without the tuner you can.... you just leave it in 2wd and hold the button until it flashes at you and will stay solid on your dash. then it is all off.

The button on our dashes is little more than decoration.

So if I put a switch In fuse 36 to turn off the power going through it (essentially removing the fuse with a switch) I will lose all stability programs... Is it bad to turn it on and off a lot and will this hurt anything...
I am an electrician and know how to do it, but if it will mess with the computer I'd rather leave it be

Yes, that's what I herd also. That's why I wanted a switch to turn the abs back on... Would be so nice if the abs was separate
What you heard about the ABS is 100% correct. Fuse 36 will disable the ABS along with traction control and stability programs. A switch would be a nice feature as I had to replace the fuse a few times this winter when I had the wife drive my truck to work due to very poor road conditions.
so has anyone done the switch yet?
I needed this a weekend ago, was in a mud hole and had to get through another to get out of the pasture I was in and all I had was byuhhhhhhhhhhhhh...luckily I slapped in reverse and punched it, was going to back around and go through backward, got pulled out into some new mud, dropped back into first, punched it and it hooked enough to burn out out....hit the road base and kept on going....4wd does no good in this soil...once it even mists, that stuff sticks to the tires like dough, knobbies are now slicks...
I was thinking of basically inserting a loop with an inline fuse and a switch to disable this pos no traction for you control in needed instances....then turn it back on at will....
