Anyone pull any RV's with their 09+??

If so, how what kind, how long, and what's the weight? I am looking into getting one, and I am just curious what everyone is towing behind their F150's.

23 ft. Jayco, I think it's about 4500 dry. Dragging it with '10, 2wd, 5.4 w/3.55. After market brake controller, weight dist. hitch and friction sway bar. It does plenty fine. Mileage drops from 20-22 mpg to 10-12 mpg. I don't think I would want less of a truck in a hilly/mountainous region.

I will post some pics after a bit but I pull a 6500 pound dutchmen dry. I put air bags on it to handle the load better and I bout the special hitch

Yep, 2010 SC 5.4 2wd LS 3.55 pulling a 28ft around 5000lbs. I have the built in TBC and it works great, also have a weight distribution hitch with sway control. The factory sway works great as well, just use mine out of habit. Pulls great as I upgraded from an 07 4.6L that also did an ok job with the same trailer, but we wanted to do some longer runs

You guys notice any major difference with and without a weight distribution hitch with a trailer only about 5k?

DonnyD25 Jun 15, 2011 10:42 PM

Never pulled any distance without it, maybe around the block to clear the driveway or something. It didn't really "sag" any considerable amount.

Just curious, I tow a 5k boat without a distribution hitch, hadn't noticed any problems, and my suspension barely droops..I just thought those were usually used with heavier loads, but I guess it could only help things.

I tow a Keystone Passport 245RB. It is about 25ft and 5,400lbs camping. I wouldn't want anymore behind this half ton. I have hauled from Texas through the Rockies of Colorado and maintained control. I get 7-12mpg depending on head winds and speeds.

You would also want a 36 gallon gas tank at 7-12 mpg.

You should use a WD hitch if either the tongue weight or the gross trailer weight exceeds the rating of your standard hitch. Most Class 3 hitches have a 500 to 600# tongue weight limit and 5000 to 6000# gross weight limit. WD will increase this to at least 1000/10000#.

Wow L8PAPEX! I almost thought this was my truck and camper!!! ;-) I have a 2009 FX4 w/Max tow and I tow a 22ft Keystone Passport 200QS. My truck is the same color too.

I pull my 30' 10,000# boat with my 2009. It has the 5.4 with 3.73. I did get some help from SCT X-3. I have no problem going down the road @ 70, and it stops good with the integrated brake contoller.

Here is an actual shot of my camper...

2010 5.4 3.73 Max tow Crew, towing a Conquest 275FBS, 30' total length, 5915lb dry, gotta be over 7000lb ready to go.

Easy tow, even through the rockies in AB and BC. I have only had the factory sway control kick in a couple times in really windy conditions.

I too pull a 30ft boat two times a season, in and out. 2011 screw.
