2011 key fob

Hello all. I screwed up and lost one of my key fobs. Its the one with the factory remote start on it a well as the lock-unlock feature.

I tried to find a part number for it with no luck. I called the stealer and they want $175.00 for a new one + $75.00 to program it.

Does anyone know the number on the fob I need??? I might wind up just getting a regular key that can be programed without any lock-unlock features on it and go that way. I will have to try and figure out the part number and on that will work if I decide to go that way.

Thanks, PARTSMAN

call tasca and see what their price is. either way dealer has to reprogram it. you can program a 3rd and 4th key on your own, but the first two have to be done at the dealer.

The reason why your fob is so expensive is because you have to have the two original keys in order to program all other keys. Since you are missing one of the original two keys, the dealer will have to order the key programmed straight from the factory. I guess I was lucky enough to have a salesman that warned me about this when I bought my truck and my girlfriends fusion, and we went and got PATS keys made first thing. I hope you are able to get a key for less than $200, best of luck to you.

If I understand the process correctly (and I may not) from a dealer friend, if you don't have at least two keys, they will have to use the slow method to add a key to the system (something like 40+ minutes with their shop computer with lots of time hold waits during the process). It's a pain (part of the theft protection "feature").

All things considered, that may not be a bad price considering what has to be done. The only part that you might be able to save on is to buy the after-market PATS key for < $20 yourself and ask nicely for the dealer to use it instead of the higher profit-margin one they provide.

Nice key. Anybody know if the 2011 key is compatible with the 2009 trucks?

I'm not 100%, but I believe so.
