Adding factory bed extender

Hey guys and gals,

I recently traded my 09 FX4 for a 11 FX4. Anyway, my 09 had the factory bed extender installed when I bought it. My 11 model didn't come with one, however, I kept the one from my 09. Do the screws simply tap themselves into the hole pictured here?

I'm by no means an expert, but my understanding from what I've seen on here is that, yes, it will fit. The screws should tap right in. Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with it, but it's on my wish list.

Thanks....I know it will fit, I just didn't know if the screw simply taps into the hole.

Yes, but you will also need to buy the plastic grommets for the holes the locking pin slides in. You need 4 of them. Squirt both the bolt and the hole with some oil to help in the tapping process. I did mine, used a 1\2 inch ratchet to get some leverage, the 3\8 was pretty tough going.

What is the tap size for the threads? I kept the extender from my '05 but haven't gotten around to putting it in yet.

The grommets are for the larger holes, upper and lower? Makes sense - I didn't see them on the other truck as it had Linex.

Thanks!

No tap required. Just screw them in. They are self tapping. And yes the grommets are for the upper and lower. I also kept mine from my 04 and installed in my 10 Screw so I am sure it fits.

Ditto. I installed an old tube bed extender on my 2010 F150 Lariat. I bought the hardware for $40 and it was self tapping.
