Fuel mileage
Fuel mileage
I finally got to take a road trip with my truck and I was pleasently suprised at the fuel mileage. When I got to my destination I thought I had a faulty fuel guage because it was showing a decent amount of fuel still in the tank. What I did was filled the tank at the begining of the trip right at the interstate. Once rolling I put the c/c at 70 and drove, only stopping 1 time for a bite to eat. Once I got to where I was going, drove a bit around town and filled up. I hand calculated the mileage: 563 miles divided by 28.8 gallons = 19.54 miles per gallon.
I was floored because for the last 20 years, if I got 15mpg hwy out of any 4x4 truck I had I was happy. The return trip turned out to be 20. According to the computer, it says that I could have gone 720 miles on a tank. I am hoping that this is the norm. The truck just tuned over 6800 miles on the trip. Sorry for the long story but had to tell somebody.

That's good to hear! I'm getting my new truck in a week or 2 and am excited about the mileage. I did the math and came up with about the same miles per tank. Don't know what setup you have, but I'm taking delivery on a 2011 FX4 Crewcab 5.0L.
2010 5.4...
