2011 lariat supercrew ecoboost deal

after a couple months of looking i decided to trade my 05 king ranch with 75K miles for a new 2011 lariat ecoboost supercrew for 40,250.00. got 17K on the trade. the new truck is pretty well loaded with nav, chrome running boards, cooled front seats, 3.73 rear with trailer tow package. the truck stickered at 48,980.

decent deal?

Was it a cash purchase? Was your trade paid for? It all comes into play.

cash purchase, except that if you finance at least 7k for 3 months then there is a 1,000.00 rebate. makes no sense but ford has always done it. my trade was paid for.

first mod that i can see is an extang folding bed cover. other than that i am not sure. with the ecoboost i am not seeing much in cold air intakes or exhausts out for it yet.

with the 75K miles i was getting concerned with xmsn problems or the cam phasers. i had not done the plugs yet and while none of that is a reason to buy a new truck i feel better to have the warranty. cant do any of the work myself currently due to an injury. and the seats in this truck are so much more comfortable than the lariat. in fact this truck rides better than the denali my wife had. to soon to comment about gas mileage as it has not broken in, besides i love the ecoboost acceleration. the truck has a 2 second delay and then its gone.

i figured that much of an upgrade for about 23k out of pocket before taxes was pretty good. especially since they arent able to keep the ecoboosts on the lot. 25 trucks and there were only 4 ecoboosts. he says they get 1 or 2 a week.

You don't have to keep a certain amount financed through Ford for the rebate. there is no early payoff penalty. If you didn't get the 0% (if it's still going), then find a better rate if you need to.

could not get the 0% and the rebate. took the rebate instead. saved the money up ahead for a new truck so i took the financing for the extra grand off. i did see where there was no early payoff penalty so as soon as i get the loan payment book i will write a check for it and pay it off. then start putting money away now for the next one. i would rather set 300 bucks a month aside in my bank account than make payments. either way its 3 or 400 bucks going out every month.

(dealer said that i had to keep at least 7k financed for at least 3 months. even if that was true it would still be a good deal to get the extra 1000. interest on that would be far less than the 1000)

I heard this, not from any dealer though. So when I went in and purchased my truck I looked through all of the paperwork thoroughly. I found nothing in any paperwork stating I had to keep the loan for any length of time in order to keep the rebate. I can understand if it is a requirement of the deal, but I would think since nothing was presented to me stating I had to keep the loan for any length of time, it would be unenforceable. The finance paperwork specifically states there is no pre-payment penalty. The finance guy said three or four times that there was no pre-payment penalty, almost like he was hinting at refinancing.

i did not sign anything regarding the rebate other than authorizing ford to give it to the dealer so it could be deducted from the price. i got the payoff amount from ford credit and if paid by may 28 it is 50 bucks more than the financed amount. not a bad deal. cost me 50 to save a thousand. so i would say if it is not possible to do they would not have had a payoff amount. set up for them to transfer out of my bank account. it is tempting to keep the money and make the payments but at over 6% interest the temptation goes away.

just did a bank transfer to pay the truck off. its simple interest. the payoff was about 35 bucks above the cost for the truck original loan. so by financing it i got 1000 off as an incentive and it cost 35 bucks to do. not bad.

just put an extang solid fold cover on it. super easy to put on. only about 40 pounds. my 05 had an are on it. 2 of us would have to put that on and take off. this is easy for one person. when fully open 2/3's of the truck is available to load something large. much more versatile than the are, and just as secure. one key (tailgate lock)

The reason they're saying you need to make three payments is because the dealership won't get their "commission" for writing up the finance contract if you don't make at least three payments. Ford Credit could care less...in fact they would probably rather cut their losses before they have to pay the dealer since they already subsidized your purchase to the tune of $1,000.

Exactly.

My finance lady at the dealer actually told me I HAD to pay 4 payments up front, since I mentioned something to my salesman about a potential refinance for a better rate. They would kindly deduct it from my down payment so it didn't sting so much.

I told her I would not make 4 payments up front and she said "but, aren't you going to refinance?". I told her I probably would, but that it was none of their business. I told her I knew she was trying to bully me into making the payments up front so they could get their commission from my deal and that I would make 3 payments before I refinanced, but I was walking out the door if she said one more word about making payments up front. I was pissed, but she quit asking me for money.

the finance guy told me that ford gets mad if the truck does not stay financed for at least 3 months. hope ford gets over it. he did not say that it would impact my 1000 dollar incentive and never mentioned any loss for the dealer. i never signed any thing that had to do with the rules of the rebate. the only thing i was told is that i have to give them a max review on the survey. went on ford credit . com this morning and the truck shows paid in full. now i start putting the 400 bucks a month aside in my account for a future purchase. i think if the feds allowed the deduction of interest on income tax for cars and trucks it would do more than the cash for obama clunkers did.

Projectmech, got probably the exact same truck with all the bells and whistles, Sticker price the same, Paid 40100 , less trade 2006 XLT 192000 miles..Same deal financed 7500 to get the rebate..Another dealer told me the same story on the payoff about not paying off for three months, but the dealer I bought from said I could pay it off anytime I wanted no penality..The dealer just doesn't get his comission for FMC..Will probably make 2 payment and pay the balance on the 3rd payment. Its only 50 some odd bucks and the dealer has always been good to me on service..
