like i said earlier, make sure your in range. i've found my remote start range is tremendously shorter than my lock/unlock/alarm range.

if it's an actual issue take it to the dealer.
It's not a matter of "Brushing up". I've read the manual cover to cover. It says, "If for some reason, the system fails to start, the horn will chirp twice." That's not the case. It chirps once.

It's not a matter of range. I've had this happen when I was 10' away, and I've had it start regularly from inside my house 50' away from the truck.

It IS an actual issue, but it's not repeatable. When I'm in for my first service, I'll ask them to look at it, but I'm not holding my breath for an answer..

*** Remote Start Error Code Chirps ***

(1) Problem with SECURILOCK
(2) Break being pressed or Hood is open
(3) Door is open
(4) Tachometer not programmed

This is from the remote start installation manual for 2010 Escape, but I'd suggest it's the same for F-150. Can't comment on 2011, they year they changed hardware.

Question Any updates?

Has anyone received any answers from Ford on this? I have a new 2011 F150 Platinum and my remote start was doing the same thing yesterday.

Lock, then double tap to start.... I hear a click click in the engine compartment and then about 3-4 seconds later the truck honks once and doesn't start.

If I try it again, most times it does the same thing.

It seems to be intermittent, as it didn't happen today at all.

Nothing new, but I was into Ford last week for an unrelated issue and they re-flashed my PCM and updated my Sync while was there. It hasn't repeated since then, but it's only been a week. Time will tell.

This is very puzzling to me. If your in range to communicate with the truck to lock/unlock it why wouldn't you be in range to start it? Is there a different receiver for the remote start? That would be just plain stupid! Particularly if the range is shorter than the range of the built in receiver!?!?
