The issue of Ford Paint
You could always wet-sand with 1000 grit and then 2000 grit sandpaper to level out the paint and then use the professional agressive through fine polishing compounds on a buffer. It would be smooth and glossy, but it is very easy to sand through the paint and you would no longer have a paint warranty.
Yikes - that is brutal
. The paint on my '06 looks to be fine but I haven't detailed / washed it myself yet so i guess I'll find out once I take a hard look at it. I don't see anything as bad as that pic though.
FWIW, the paint on wifie's 2010 BMW X5 is like glass .... especially since I hit it with multiple coats of Zaino

Thats all he does for a living, detail car to a concours standard. I said what gives? He said typical Ford paint over the last 10 years. Chevy by contrast has a lot less typically. His opinion of best factory finish over the last 5 years out of the box for a reasonably priced car---recent Jaguars, even though they can be turds in reliability.
I owned a BMW in 2008, its better than Ford but its definitely not "all that" like you'd think, but they can polish up nice
All I can say is, Ford builds a world class truck, I've owned Chevies all my life but I really LOVE my new Ford, but they've got to step it up a notch on paint. They've got everything else going, why not paint? Don't gimmee that excuse its just a truck--meant to look tough and work, for 20k work truck I'd accept it, not on a 45k and up spaceship.
I will break out the polisher and Meg's products when it's time to handle the first set of clearcoat swirl marks. I was pondering this on the drive to work this morning. I love detailing vehicles and I had a small side business when I lived in central TX. My wife alway's tells me I should open up a detail business. The only problem is numerous detail businesses all over town. They seem to stay fairly busy. I'm a perfectionist, and I really don't think the typical person would pay me to detail their vehicle. I would charge a lot more than $65.00. Most people think a detail means: wash, dry, vac, polish at times, wax, tire and interior dressing and air freshener.
Thanks for the info.

well its straight off Edmunds article with a Ford supplied vehicle for the test. Surprised it got past their photo editor or Ford.
In reality mine is not that bad, but still the paint job on my Screw sucks

Its a legit pic, its just oversharpened. That was done in either in camera or in post by an editor. Either way, if I was Ford, id be pissed.
Granted Ford's paint does suck, but that pic really makes it much worse and is not flattering whatsoever.
Maybe the photog was a Chevy guy?

I have the 'Platinum White Paint' on my 11 Platinum and it looks just as bad but so did my 04 till I polished it and waxed it. I will do the same with this truck, the have it down to a science, enough paint to cover the vehicle but not .001% any more. I guess it saves them money but I even paid an extra 400.00 for the 'nice' paint and it looks like crap. O well still love the truck.
Tundra is a great truck, but to my eye and millions of others, looks like a pregnant whale.
My 2007 f150 was bad=Kentucky plant I think
2008 F250 also bad= Kentucky plant
2011 F150 paint is very nice= Dearborn plant
Where was your badly painted truck built?
