Key wouldn't turn

I took my truck in today to get inspected, went inside to talk to mechanic, came back out to drive the truck into the bay and the key wouldn't turn. I jiggled the steering wheel and gear shift while turning the key and nothing. Gave the key a little tap to loosen up any tumblers that might be stuck, nothing. Rocked the truck while jiggling the gear shift and key...nothing. While I was on the phone with road side assistance (had to get it away from the bay doors) I gave it one last try and it worked. Just wondering if anyone else has had these issues and what could possibly be wrong? For now I am going to spray a little lubricant in the key hole and make a point to get it checked out next time my truck is in.

You really should not spray "lubricant" in the key hole.

If I was a betting man I would say you parked it with the wheel turned. Wiggling it wont help. You need to pretty much get your muscles into it, and crank on it a little and turn the key at the same time.

The only lubricant you should consider even remotely is dry graphite, but even then, in an ignition, you really shouldn't. Any oil based lubricants will attract and hold dirt and gum it up in the long term.

Point taken, will just mention it to the Ford techs when I have it in for it's pre 60000 km checkup

Everytime my wife drives the truck, she will give the steering wheel a tug just as she is turning off the ignition. This causes the whole system to lock so I have to pull on the steering wheel to remove the pressure on the lock so the key will turn.

My aunte had this problem a few weeks ago, we tried everything to get it to turn. Called our local dealership, roadside assisstance everything. Well on the phone with roadside she looked in her purse and realized she was using the keys for her Focus. The look on her face was priceless as she told the guy with roadside that she got it to work.

I wont be letting her live this down for awhile.
