Another USB2 issue
Another USB2 issue
searched here and google and found nothing.
hard drive is formatted correctly, i had it working for about a week. unplugged it and updated some songs (all songs are mp3) and now it won't connect. tried over 10 different cables (since it stopped working) so i know it's not the cable that's the issue. have done a master reset and that didn't help.
when i unplug the usb from the back of the radio it shows on the screen usb2 removed.
ideas?
edit: plays off the front usb port.

already have, it works.
when i first hooked it up, it took a couple tries to get it to connect but once it did it worked until it was unplugged, then went through crap again to get it working.

just tried to get an ipod hooked up. won't work either off any of the cables. the Ford logo pops up onto the ipod and shows connected but when i press media, select source, choose usb it says empty for it as well. works on the front usb as well.
and the retarted lady that speaks is beyond annoying, either give us a better voice or allow us to tell her to **** off and her say **** off.

**** off
i don't know whats so difficult about working, this sync system so far is being a POS. have you figured out if their is a way to tell the hooker the name of a band and her select it so you don't have to scroll thru all that artist?

I have not found any documentation to verify this but I 'suspect' there is a slight difference in the power output of USB and USB2 cause I had several folks tell me their device always works OK in the front port but not always in USB2. Every one of these were hard drives that require USB power to make them operate. I've never seen this happen with a flash drive or thumb drive as they are sometimes called.
A work around is to put the cable that goes to the front USB into the USB2 port and then connect your hard drive in the port that went to the front one. I do this on all my vehicles anyway for easy SYNC recognition. Just remember, if you do a firmware update and plug into the front port, you'll have to use SYNC to activate what is now USB2 cause it won't recognize on it's own.

more great news about sync. it's a POS system. the whole thing is now broken on my truck (1300 miles on truck) none of it works. guess it's already going into ford. have a feeling this truck is going to be pissing me off alot thru this system.

To get mine to go to usb2, I just press the sync button and say "usb2" and she responds "usb2" and it begins to play. The part I don't like is when you tell it to play artist ------- and it begins playing all the songs from that artist and then you stop the truck get out run in somewhere come back out and it is stuck on whatever album that song came from.
Also, when you play a Genre, if you shut the truck off and start it back up again, it will be stuck on that artist and album until you change it. And it always turns the repeat on everytime I plug my ipod in it, and I can't stand that. I am using an Ipod classic 80gig.
Not sure why it does those things, but it does. I can push the sync button while it is playing and tell it to turn repeat off or on, and turn shuffle off or on which is nice, but the repeat will not stay off. Always comes back on. Weird stuff.
One other thing it does, now that I think about it, is every 6 times or so I turn the the truck off for about 10 min or so and start it back on, it will have switched to the radio. Sometimes AM or sometimes FM. Very random and something I can't seem to duplicate for the dealer. Guess I have to live with that one.
