Adjustable Pedals

Has anybody else noticed that if you move the pedals closer to you the throttle and brake response is better. I have moved them around while driving and I really notice it with the brakes. It makes the brakes a little too touchy, but the throttle response is much better.

Thats because you are essentially giving it more gas since the pedal is moving toward you and your foot is staying in the same place. Move your seat back and it will get worse.

That's what I was thinking too.

No, that is not what i am saying and I am not dumb. I'm talking about when the bottom of your foot starts pushing on the pedal. Not foot position.
When the pedals are closer the pedal doesnt move as far when you have them all the way back. Especially the brake.

I commented about this some where a couple years ago. At that time I was talking about my 05. Everyone thought I was crazy, and didn't agree with me. It seemed like my 2005 King Ranch 5.4 had more "punch" "attitude" (just power) when I moved the pedals all the way out (closest to driver). When I would put the pedal ALL the way down in the all the way out position compared to the all the way in position...I swear there was a difference. But like I said..."they" thought I was crazy.

its a drive buy wire system and its all in your head. the brake is mounted to the same thing and and i dont see how moving them up helps? so just to give you the benefit of doubt i tryed this last night and again on my way to work this morning.

results are as fallows peddles back or in the down position. given it gas it goes hitting brake it stops.

peddles in the up position. hit the gas it goes hit the brake it stops. wow you where right it still works in the up position!

as for better or more responsive i didn't see any.

Pedal travel is exactly the same no matter where you have them adjusted front to back. (unless of course you have a rug or big fat floor mat balled up near the firewall)

While you might think response is better, it has to be an illusion. As was noted above, drive by wire is drive by wire no matter where the throttle pedal sits. The brake pedal uses a sliding actuator to move the booster/master cylinder rod. Again, no matter where the pedal is adjusted, the travel and/or effort required to actuate is exactly the same.

As much as I know it should be the same, I swear the throttle is more responsive. Brake seems the same. Glad I'm not the only one

Question:

When adjusting the pedals, does your guy's motors sound nice and smooth or is it rather noisy?

Mine sounds like a leopard growling when I adjust them.

I have not noticed it on the F-150, but on my 2003 SuperDuty diesel, if you move the pedals all the way in, throttle delay is even worse than normal.

Well they do make some noise but it shouldn't sound like there's any wild animals in your vehicle.

It's an electric actuator... it makes noise. Stand next to your electric mirrors and move them... they make noise too. Part of the process of physical movement.

As for throttle response or delay... come on... look up under your dash. The throttle pedal has the same travel no matter where it is. Outward position and inward position are controlled by physical stops on the pedal arm and they don't move no matter where the pedals are.

Just to be sure though... a quick hook-up to the scan tool shows the exact same throttle position sensor readings throughout the entire pedal travel.
