Frankly I have never understood why any dealer would want to void warranty work? If they do the work under warranty they are guaranteed the job and get paid for it. If the say no, warranty voided, then I would go elsewhere.

FoMoCo has to approve every warranty job before they will pay it, plus, dealers have warranty budgets. When they exceed those budgets, they get in hot water with Ford. Otherwise, the dealers would break Ford with warranty work.

There are certain protocols and check lists that the dealer must complete if they are going to get paid for the work and parts....so if there's anything questionable about your truck concerning weather or not they get paid, they will not warranty it.....

The older pcm versions needed to be analysed by by a tech or an engineer who knew what to look for as far as tracking flash footprints.....the newer pcms in the 09+ require log in information and when the vehicle is flashed with a tuner instantly a red flag is recorded in the pcm of an unauthorized flash.....so now all they have to do is see the red flag and tell you NO.....as stated before they're really watching the EBs....

Yer truck
Yer money
Depends on the dealer you take it to.

Not all warranty repair is as simple as good part/bad part. A repair may be approved by the District or Regional Service Manager and not by the Dealership. How expensive is the repair with parts and labor combined?

Manufacturer's Warranty repair example:

1. Warranty Clutch replacement, 6.2 man hours per Manufacturer.
2. Customer pay or non warranty replacement, 7.6 man hours per ALLDATA.

Actual time of repair may take 7-9 hours depending any given day. Manufacturer's warranty repair will seldom pay a Technician for the actual repair time. Tech's, Service Manager's and Service Writer's make their money off of customer pay or non-warranty repairs.

I left the Auto Service Industry back in Nov. 2007 when it took a nose dive.
Why do you think Auto Dealership Service Depts. have a bad wrap? It's really hard to be honest and make a living. I'm not saying it can't be done... I ran an honest Service Dept. and it was very tough. The high volume Dealers are the best place to work if you are in service.

I wasn't aware of the budgets but it might explain why the smaller mom and pop dealerships give better service.

Funny that a dealer would be so honest and upfront with Ford about service work when they same place will tell you anything to sell you a vehicle.

That makes more sense now, its all about the bottom line.
