Exclamation 2011 F150 specs

so i was playing around on the ford website and a couple questions dawned on me when i was building an f150. the first was why is the 6.2L not offered in the King Ranch. the second question was is that still the iconic saddle leather inte new king ranch and how does it compare to the leather in the platinum?

the leather should be the same thats in the 09-10 king ranches, i still like the 01-08 leather much better for looks.

IMO, the platinum is overpriced for no reason what so ever, it's nice but not nearly as nice as the KR. king ranch interior is much nicer. when i was looking for my fx4 i don't remember seeing one king ranch f150, in past years all i saw was a ton of king ranches and few platinums. starting to wonder if ford if phasing them out of the f150.

Open your eyes a bit more KRs are everywhere. I was at one stoplight north of Dallas and all three lanes had a KR in it. Here around Little Rock it is about the same. The leather in the 01-08s looked nice but was a pain to keep up. When I traded mine in with 145,000 on the ticker it still looked pretty good but that was not an easy task. The newer stuff was designed to be more durable and not require near as much upkeep.

As for the KR vs. Platinum, I have owned both and the Platinum is much nicer. The leather is softer and more comfortable, and has 5-10 more options than a KR for not much more money. I looked at both and my MSRP was not much different. More options plus being able to get the truck in a solid color instead of two tone sold the deal.

i'm not talking about 01-2010 king ranches, i was talking about 2011's with the new motor line up. i probably went to 8 or 9 dealers and i can't recall seeing one 2011 king ranch. i see king ranch's daily, hell i walk about my garage and see 2 daily. just not 2011's.

edit: the last few years all you saw on the dealer lots were king ranches so not seeing any at all is odd.

Just had a quick look at the Ford dealers in the Little Rock area. 5 dealers had 8 KRs and 20 Platinums out of the 370 F-150s on the lot. They're out there but Ford has made that segment pretty crowded. The KR, Platinum, HD, Raptor and Lariat Limited will all crack $50k and a Lariat can come pretty close. Not too many dealers want to carry that many high ends trucks, they have a tendency to sit on the lot for longer than the middle models.

the local dealer near me has 10 platinums and 1 king ranch. the other has 11 platinums and 2 king ranches. maybe they are finally hitting the lots but they are surely outnumbered badly compared to previous years.

Ford has had to severely limit 6.2 availability in all F-150's due to CAFE. It's only standard or available in selected high end models.

To answer the original question, I think the Platinum leather is softer and more supple than the KR, but I don't have any concrete evidence to back that up. Just personal opinion.

Regarding KR v. Platinum - different strokes for different folks. Personally, I loathe the KR interior. Also, I never saw myself driving a Platinum until I sat in one. Holy crap, talk about luxury... my EB Plat is on order and should be here in a few weeks, pending resolution of the current production delay.

I've owned both and the Platinum's leather is more softer. That has been noticed by almost all of my friends too. Without a doubt the KR is nice but not as nice as the Platinum.
