Transfer case went bye bye

So i dropped my 2010 off at Ford and after they looked at it they said the transfer case had burned up. the truck only has 10,000 miles on it. The truck was making a grinding type noise from underneath then it sounded like i was dragging a chain from my front tire. anyone else having issues? anyways the truck has only been in 4wd maybe 7 times, but not recently because i haven't driven the truck as much.

As long as you only had 4WD engaged on loose surfaces (gravel, mud, ice, snow), it's probably not your fault. At least it's under warranty.

That is the sound mine has made on a few occasions! I took it in and they couldn't get it to repeat the sound.
Good thing there is warranty!!

I had a similar noise not once but twice. Both times caused by cracked vacuum lines resulting in the 4wd wanting to engage. This was on an '05, but man does that kind of thing get your attention when it happens.

357 miles my transfer case cracked in half and a big chunk of it fell off on the ground. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the entire unit axels and all . No noise at all, put it in 4wd high while stopped and when I took off in the snow and ice BANG and then the lovely smell of gear lube Dealer said they had never seen this before

no when i bought the truck i told them it was getting lifted. never had a truck that wasn't lifted that i bought from ford. Been dealing with the same guy and same dealership for years so i was good to go with that. Ford tried to give me a hard time with my 06 F150 bc it was lifted but nothing about this one thank goodness
