2011->2010 cruise control question

Random thought as I drove to work today...

1) Does the 2011 have a Pause/Resume cruise control button. (2010s don't)

2) If they do, could I gain the same functionality in my 2010 with a steering wheel swap and some minor additional tweaking?

Honestly, I cannot tell you if you could swap this feature into a 2010. I've got it in my 2011.

What I can say is that if you are used to simply tapping the brake pedal to "pause" cruise, it takes some getting used to to use the pause button. Sure you can just hit the brake pedal, but it's more than a tap. In my previous vehicles I could just tap the pedal, which wouldn't even activate the brake lights. With this 2011 you have to push the pedal further to pause cruise, and the lights do come on.

Good luck finding an answer.

Ford must of dropped the Coast option in 2009 trucks. My '07 had the Coast/Resume option. My '11 has Cancel/Resume and - Set +. If I hit the - Set button, it kicks down 2 gears as it slows down.

When I hit the brake pedal it takes some effort to get the Cruise to kick-off. It has gradually gotten better with time. I now have 3700 miles on the truck and I have either gotten used to it or it no longer takes as much effort.

Gir;

I have a 2010 FX4 SCAB;

I have four cruise buttons -

Resume
Set+
Set-
On/Off

I do not have to activate the tails to cancel the cruise - just a slight tap on the pedal pauses it for me.

In my 2010 I just use the Set - to slow down the cruise speed and the + to speed up, releasing both when I get to the speed I want. Tap the brakes to disable it and resume to go back to the last set point.

Same here, the initial tap on the brake pedal took some effort. Now, a light tap of the pedal is all it takes.

Wouldn't it make sense to just hit the on/off button twice? It would turn off the cruse then back on, then hit set + ?? Only takes about one second to do it. Don't even need to touch the brake pedal.

I can't stand the idea of tapping the brakes coming from the two cars I've owned prior to truck that had the pause/resume ability.

I do the off->on-manually accelerate->set->adjust combo but it is a unnecessary process when all I would need to is pause-resume. And as for the brake pedal, accidentally tapping to hard loses too much energy or activates the brake lights...it's kind of archaic.

It frustrates me that I have all these convenience features for entertainment (voice controlled ipods) when I can't even get the same consideration for the purpose aforementioned 150--driving.

I agree with you, just got back from a 7000 mile trip, interstate travel, I use the cruse to pass, decelerate. Bottom of the wheel is the most inconvince place to locate those cruise buttons. I disliked having to take my eyes off the road to locate them. Plus, there should be light or something to indicate when the power is on. Kept having to press on and then set the cruise each time. The indicator comes on when engaged (????) already know that.
Noticed many l inconveniently located switches, prior vehicles had the switches etc placed in more friendly locations.
What happened Ford??? lose all the old engineers/designers???? They need to find a better location/means to reach the seat belts along side those pillars.

Did you not test drive the truck before purchase?? I think the controls are located in a good place and I have no problems using them.

I have an 03 Accord and had an 06 Frontier and both had the cruise buttons on the right side of the sterring wheel. And the buttons were/are on the flat part of the steering wheel and the shape was easy to feel. Each button had a different shape so you could hit the button with just feel. The F150's are all the same shape so you have to look to see which one your touching. I can literaly drive the Accord and use the cruise and keep my hands in the same position, never lifting them to set the cruise. I have allways thought that Ford missed the mark with steering wheel controlls.
