Just picked up my new truck from the Dealer tonight!

Ordered her on March 4th, just arrived this afternoon much to the dealer's and my surprise figured we had a couple weeks yet as they where still building her late last week! Will post pics in the morning assuming the rain stops but man what a truck!

Handles like a dream but was a bit nerve wracking driving home at night on the back roads in the pouring rain with almost no visibility. The defrosters are a bit tricky to locate with all the other things going on in the cab.

For all you new buyers out there take my advice, don't take possession after dark during a thunderstorm if you can help it. i think the low beams seem a bit weak to me I think that's going to be added to the planned mods list real soon.

I purchased my '01 XLT SCab in pouring down rain and had to drive it 30 miles one-way. Not much fun, is it?

Congrats! Actually the defrosters are very simple to find, despite what features you have there right next to the radio on/off switch. I purchased an 11 1 month ago, and yes the lights are not very bright, you will want to upgrade as well.

When I bought my 08 FX4 3 years ago, I got to the dealership at 2pm, they were calling for a snow storm that night, because my insurance comp. gave me a hard time, it wasnt until 6 when I left the dealership. I drove it home in a blizzard. Talk about being nervous!!!!!!

Nope, especially when your transitioning from a sports car to a full sized truck, it takes a little while to get used to it. Add rain and no visibility on back country roads was a white knuckle 30 min ride.

Yeah took me by surprise as well, but there where a few things that factored into it:

1) I ordered on the Friday they where placing orders into the factory, so my order went in to ford before I left the showroom.
2) I ordered mine with the spray on bed liner, thus it went though KC. After seeing all the issues seeming to happen with Deerbourn I wanted mine from KC. So I dodged not only the manufacturing issues but the whole Allied debacle as well.
3) I ordered a fully loaded truck from a diamond dealer, they get more vehicles than most other dealers so high volume = faster turn around in this case at least.

Dude, I was sweating bullets with all the lights and gizmos in there, having a teenage daughter poking buttons on the sat nav and asking questions was not helping either. :-) Yeah it's not hard to find once you know where it is or under normal driving conditions.

Dude so glad I am not you! :-) I had the presence of mind to call in the insurance before I left to pick it up, geico added the truck and emailed me proof of insurance and all while I was on the phone with them was able to just hand over the printout when we arrived for the tags. Still took a couple hours waiting on the different people to do their things to get the tags etc.

Here are some pics - more to follow when I get a chance.

Ok here's the Pics, nothing done to her so far:

It's a 2011 FX4 Ingot Silver, fully loaded with Luxury package, Max Tow/haul package, Sony Sat nav, rear view camera, Running boards, Power Moon roof, Leather seats, Bed Extender, Box Side steps, Tailgate steps, and spray on bed liner.

The license plate is blacked out but has the new Maryland War of 1812 plates with Ft McHenry and the Star Spangled banner on it:

Just seems right for an American truck!

Here's a side view, pay no attention to the wife's highlander hybrid in the background.

Ordering the Bakflip and other items today will add more pics when that's done. I like the drainage holes in the bed right below where the backflip rails will mount but other than that I'm a little disappointed in the spray on bed-liner, lots of seams in what I thought would be a seamless bed. Will probably have to have it scraped and line-x'd in a few years.

One thing I was surprised by was the carbon fiber on the interior, I was expecting just plain plastic but it looks much nicer than most of the pictures you see.

Still learning what all the buttons are, and trying to figure out how the heck to reach the dip stick to check the oil, I'm thinking I will need a step ladder and an old blanket and just crawl over the side I'm only 5-11 and obviously it was designed to be checked by NBA stars only.

Still for the minor annoyances it's one heck of a truck and I love it. Put close to a 100 miles on it yesterday just driving around and testing everything.

The Nav system def takes time to get use to. I havent played with it to much, the rest of the controls are pretty easy once you drive a bit. Def 20% tint the front windows and Recon/Plasmaglow tailgate lightbar, they look great on these trucks. Good luck with the truck, like the color.

any plans for wheels/tires?

I thought the max tow/haul required the EB and has 7 bolt wheels?

Looking to mod the headlights just have not decided on how exactly to mod them, debating adding a bull bar with lights to fill in. Not sure I need the tint up, in MD the police are fairly strict on enforcement of how much you can have and do cite ya if it's too dark and you have to strip it all off when they do. No plans on the wheels/tires yet, was looking to level and possibly bump them up but I think I may wait until I need new tires at this point.

I could be mistaken, it has the towing package there may be a difference, it has the trailer brake controller and hookups as well as the beefier axle in back but I ask them not to build with the tow mirrors because I wanted to keep the powerfold ones. I think it was like $160 more to the price tag since I had most of the items included in the FX4 already.

Hey Chris, up in Timonium here near the fairgrounds.

I have to have my heated seats, sorry but I'm a bit spoiled by them, my Nissan has them and a heated steering wheel which I will sorely miss. But I needed the upgraded seats due to old fart back issues.

And well the nav was a must have, was an early adopter of having one built in the maxima and have bought it in every vehicle since. They have come a long way since the old cd version I had. The travellink Satellite weather maps and gas/movie and traffic updates are really nice especially when your traveling somewhere new. Vice recognition is still a bit rough in places with sync but I think it's more me than the truck at the moment that too has come a long way...

I did notice 2 disturbing things, 1 the taillights has some condensation in them after all that rain, probably nothing to worry about but will have them checked out when I get the second item looked at - brake alert on the health report! Not sure what is wrong will have to take it in already I guess.
