2009 F-150 - want exhaust, intake, programmer

I just traded for my brothers 2009 FX4 SuperCrew with the 5.4L.

I want an exhaust, intake, programmer, looking for good hp/tq gains and if I get better MPG, so be it.

Opinions?

I understand all that, had multiple Mustangs.

Been out of the adding horsepower scene for 4-5 years.

Looking for the best tuner manufactures, CAI, and exhaust....proven mods on vehicles here.

skip CAI, no proven gains. Money down the drain.

and those are all gone over in those sections with references to tuners who have a lot of experience with these trucks.

For exhaust its really personal preference. You wont really gain much power at all so you just need to find a system that you like the sound of. As far as intake I have never seen someone on here compare a stock intake vs an aftermarket one. With that being said over the years and most of the tests I have seen have only shown positive gains in the upper RPMs. Im not sure how you drive your truck but if its under 4k RPMs then chances are you are better off with the stock intake. You will prolly gain 5-10 horses from a aftermarket intake in the upper RPMs but you can remove the factory snorkel and pick up an easy 5 hp.

When it comes to tuners I would recommend VMP and 5star tuning. Both of these companies offer a great product, have great customer service, and will have your product out to you in a matter of days. Everyone on here loves PHP but I have found out they have some of the worst customer service (hard to get ahold of) and they take months to mail out custom tunes to their customers (unacceptable). On top of that with the Edge programmer they still dont have the ability to go in and calibrate the trans on the 09-10 platform. The only thing they can do is adjust the shift firmness which is nice but this still leaves a lot to be desired fro the trans. I have the Edge and was disappointed when I found out it didnt do anything for our trannies.

Same as the others said; skip cai (Gotts mod at most you can do if you want) and get a tuner from reputable source. The truck will be night and day better. Not huge power/tq gains, but noticable. Drive by wire lag will be gone which was a great improvement and my main reason to get one.
