guys -
has anyone rhino or Line X their undercarriage/frame. I happened to see a f150 recently with it. Is there any issues with doing that, I have an 11' FX4 and plan on keeping it a long time.

 

I'd do it if I had a big pile of money laying around. But around here it cost nearly $500 to have the inside of the bed Line-x'd. So with all of the other mods I have planned I doubt I can afford to have the undercarriage done.

 

from what ive heard rhino sucks. From what ive experienced line-x is great! its really durable!

 

I think its a bad idea. If u ever have to do any work or replace something you have to rip all that off. I believe it would be safer, easier, and cheaper to go buy 15 bucks worth of spray paint and newspaper, tape everything off and spray everything you see. Once every 7-10 years outta do you good

 

you make good a point here - My last truck was rotted pretty bad underneath, but it had 7" of lift and was 14yrs old. time will always catch up.

Yea its the smart thing to do. Because every nut and bolt would be covered. And u wouldnt be able to see anything. Spray paint is way better. Just the cheap stuff. The truck shoulda came painted underneath anyway. But id just wait til u start seein paint chips and surface rust and just put an extra coat on. Wait til u see it again and put another coat on.

 

I line-xd my bed and the rear inner fender wells. I've noticed plenty of trucks up here in Canada with rotten rear fenders while the rest of the truck is mint. Some of these trucks were only 7-10 yrs old. I think driving on gravel roads is also harsh on that part of the vehicle. If you live where the roads get salted 4 months of the year then have your truck sprayed with "krown" "oil gard". I've done all the above and if my truck is a rust bucket in 15 yrs I'm gonna be flippin mad!

Is your primary goal cosmetics or protection?

 

The coating on the frame on my 2010 seems to be pretty good. My 2001 held up pretty good frame wise as well after 10 years of new england winters. I would not line-x or rhino line either. Just POR the spots that start to rust...

 

x2. I really wouldn't worry too much about underneath, but I am glad I did the inner rear fender wells.

actually, my wheel wells on muy old truck were like new when i sold it, i would always wash them out it was under the bed that was rotted pretty bad. This new truck seems to sprayed pretty well though

 

I have a few friends that have used linex and rhino on there wheel wells. Both look good but the linex seems to have better reviews and better looking quality. I agree with others that whole bottom isn't good but wheel wells would be good idea with the little of protection they have from the factory these days.

 

I had my 2010 Rhino'd from the dealer when I bought it. total underside coated. the thing that sold me on it was the fact that they said it would be covered for rust for 10yrs. if there is any rust that shows up on the truck within 10yrs, just bring it in and they would fix it up no questions.
