Was looking at a 2011 Super Duty F250

Wow, this wasn't bad priced at all. A 4WD Screw XLT w/6.2L was MSRP ~$43000 and had the options I have on my F150. For $5000, it seemed like a pretty good bargain. Since I commute 24,000 miles/year, I simply couldn't afford to drive this thing but seemed like a good value being there's more F150s on their lot, more expensive than this.

Some things I've noticed also that F150 owners may take for advantage. The bed in the Super Duties are not as deep. Our Beds are 22.5" deep while the Super Duty beds are 20". Also the Super Duty Crew Cab back seats are significantly smaller than the F150s. I would had thought it would be the other way around but even on Fords spec sites, the F150 has 2.5" more leg room. These 2 differerences were immediately noticable, they were that significant.

I've been looking at the new 2011 and I immediately noticed the two things you've pointed out. My first thought, "wow, that bed doesn't look very deep." I checked the spec sheets just like you and it was confirmed. Pretty crazy about the back seats as well.

You may have less leg room in the F250, but the seats are not smaller. The shoulder room in the F250 is larger, which constitutes. A wider seat.

One question I have is where do they take the dimension from? I assume "normal" driving position. I wonder if you put the seats all the way back in both models what the numbers would show.
It's kind of weird how big the Supers seem, but if you set them side by side an F150, they only look minimally taller and wider.

they are a lot taller. my 05 250 with a leveling kit (2") and 35's was as big as a guy i worked with 2010 f150 with a 6" lift and 35's.

as for room, it felt the same to me. in my 05 it felt smaller (in the rear seats), in my dad's 10 it felt about the same, but his seats also sit against the back wall, mine were a couple inches out because of the rear captain seats

The thing I never understood is why they make the bed sides taller.

It is a real PITA to load anything over the bed rail.

Really, how often are you going to fill the bed up completely with bark mulch.
Will the extra height really save you a trip?

Of all the the things they have done to PU trucks in the last few years...this is one I hate.

OK stepping off of soapbox now. Climbing back down into my hole.

^ agree. It took me a while to like the looks of the F-150's when they went with the tall bed (04 i think?). The SD's have always looked great because they haven't put oversized beds on them.

I think the SD box looks odd, mini me box.

In any event, it needs a complete 100% overhaul. Exterior rear back of A pillars is basically same since 99 debuted.

Heck tailgate still fits. (or so I'm told)

I have been carefully looking also. For me I agree the ride was not as smooth as the 150 but the seating was much more comfortable. The width of the cabin was larger than the 150. And driving conservatively posted mileage within 2 mpg at 55 mpg of my 4.6l. Disclaimer both were 2wd. Unfortunately with that prominent front end and taller stance the mpg's eroded as the speed climbed......

I think theres more leg room in the back seat of the f150's for sure but with out a doubt the cab itself in the super duty's are wider and taller then our half tons. Thats one reason why they seem taller.

I just replaced my '05 F150 with an '08 F250, and let me tell you, the F250 dwarfs the F150. When parked side by side in the garage, the F250 towers over the F150. And yes, the cab is larger in the F250, but the '09+ F150 have it over the F250 in leg room whereas the '04-'08 F150 had similar leg room to the F250.
