New to forum and looking for some advice. I've read so many posts that I think I've confused myself.

Just bought a 2011 Screw 4x4 and want to make some modifications.

I'm thinking I'll do the Bilstein 5100s set to 1.5" (my rake is exactly 2" and I want maintain a tiny bit of that).

I'm debating over doing 295/60/20s or 285/55/22. Both put me at ~34" diameter so my question is will I have problems fitting that diameter with just 1.5" level?

Also, with 285 or 295 should I be able to stick with factory offset when choosing wheels?

I am fairly sure either will fit just fine with the 1.5. <y biggest question is why you are considering a 22" wheel. Maybe you're keen on it, but I'm a definite opponent to the all wheel, no rubber look on a lifted 4x4. I would prefer a 18, or even 17" rim with the 34-35 inch tire look. WAY mor off road 4x4 type look.

With only 1.5 inch level, you probably need to be very aware of the offset of whatever wheel you plan to buy.

But, to each his own

 

1.5" isnt enough for a 34-35" tire, even with minor plastic trimming. when the tire comes up into the wheel arch in a turn you'll get contact. the fact of the matter is that 35" tires are too large for the wheel well at full lock, the only remedy is fiberglass fenders or lifting higher to avoid it. 33" would be a better choice for 1.5" of lift in the front.

 

Dittykb, curious what engine & gearing you have

 

are you 100% sure? i'm not as knowledgable on the 09-11's yet as the 04-08's but with the correct wheel choice he should be fine. i think it will be hard finding a wheel with stock backspacing and width to fit them though. personally i'd stick with stock wheel and get a 295/60/20

For the question about the 22" rims it is just a preference. I live in Florida so I'm not out mudding or anything. The main reason I got 4x4 was for the occasional slick/steep boat ramp otherwise I don't need it. It will probably turn out to be a waste of $3k.

For the question about engine and gears, I have the 5.0 with 3.73 gears.

Maybe 2O" with 305/55/20 would be better. That seems to be the generally accepted setup for leveled trucks. All I know is the stock Pirellis look weak on it.

Anyone have any feedback on Bilsteins for the level?

edit my comment to a 12.50" wide tire, a narrower one would work just fine.

 

they are AWESOME. i drove fx4 for life's old truck offroad one night and over all the bumps it was smooth as hell, had been at the same spot in my old truck a week before and it was terrible compared to his. i HIGHLY recommend them.

i know i've seen 04-08 2wd's not leveled fitting 35's with minimal rubbing. honestly i think it will work with the right selection of wheels and tires. i'd stick with an AT as MT's have larger side lugs that will cause rubbing.

 

i love my bilsteins, they're awesome. i just wish i could have got the front ones with rezzies

 

If you get aftermarket 20's they will look really good on 305/55/20's.. I understand your wanting to have big tires and big wheels too. you could easily do a 20x9 with a 0 offset or more positive with a 305/55/20 on a 1.5 level. It would also look great. And I bet you would like it.
