E85 breakeven percentage

what is the actual percentage for the breakeven point vs 87 octane? i have a 2010 5.4 and am currently running e85 and getting 12-13mph. Anyone getting the same or better using it? right now regular is 3.54 and e85 is 2.79 (about 21% difference) what are you guys getting with regular? its winter in mn yet and 30-40 for a high right now. i know that my gas milage definitely improves in the summer too.

Thanks guys!

The break even point will be different for every vehicle - the only way you can calculate it is to see what kind of mileage YOUR PARTICULAR VEHICLE gets on gas vs. E85. I have heard figures ranging anywhere from 7% to 35%.

And it will take a couple of tanks of E85 before the ECM gets it right.

Ive run it several times in a few vehicles and yes about 1/3 less mpg. Lost a lot of fuel range which is why I stopped using it.

im going to run 87 octane for a few tanks now. the breakeven point for my milage is 15.5 mpg with gas. i should be able to meet that goal, im hopin for 16-17 but it is still winter and mpg in the winter still sucks! i will keep you posted on the results and what the results of e85 vs 87 octane are for me

my first tank of regular 89 octane gas i hand calculated out to be 17.6 mpg (with my victory motorcycle in the box the whole time around 650lbs)and my last tank of e85 hand calculated out to be 12.1 mpg. with gas price of 3.49 a gallon right now i would need i would need e85 to be 2.41 a gallon. i am never using e85 again. my breakeven percentage for my pickup is 31%
right now the gas is still in the winter blend so im hoping that by summer i will be getting around 20 mpg!
i have a 2010 f150 supercab 4x4
5.4 liter with 3.55 ls
275/70/18 nitto terra grapplers
k&n aftermarket air filter
