Ordering a new one

I used to regularly order my trucks, but have not for like 15-20 years. I am in the market for a new one and no one within a 100 mile radius has what I am looking for on the lot.

I also have questions about ordering one in terms of rebates, deals, etc.

If you order one, are you eligible for any of the rebates or current deals? I have heard a different story from every dealership I ask, has anyone who has done this recently have some advice or info on this?

Basically I want a 2011 XLT standard cab shortbed with a 5.0, 4x4 with a 3.73 posi. Color is negotiable, but I cant even find one of those on the lot anywhere. Even finding a 4x4 is difficult, the only ones on the lots are FX4 and Lariats, and I dont want to spend 40 grand for a damn truck...

One of the dealers does have a 2010 leftover 4.6 3v 4x4 std cab shortbed but it is an XL, they have a pretty decent price on it, I am half tempted to go that route, but wanted to see if I could get what I want first.

Not a demand for a standard cab shortbed anymore like they had 20+ years ago. Supercab 6.5 bed 4x4's are still popular down here. They are up to the low 30's list price even in the XL model. That's all the truck I needed but the wife talked me into another Lariat Screw. I drove regular cab's with 8' bed's for years and was satisfied. Keep looking or go for the 2010 model. The 2011's will get better gas mileage though with the new engines.
