Blurry Rearview Camera

Am I the only one with a blurry rearview camera on his 2011 F150? Yes, I've cleaned it several times and no there is no protective film on it. My wife's 2010 Fusion camera is so sharp you can read a newspaper with it, mine is so blurry you have to assume it's a newspaper you're looking at. I think I'm gonna have to take this to the service department and see what they can do about it.

This has been posted before....by someone else...I think the consensus was that it should be brought in because something was wrong with it.....I'd take it in and get it checked....it after all is a brand new truck.

Ok, I went ahead and scheduled it for service on Monday morning. I was just hoping there was some trick to an easy fix.

I've noticed the same thing, I could swear it is not as clear as my previous F150 (2009 with nav) (current is 2011 with nav). But convinced myself it was all in my head. Let me know the outcome. I wonder if they just went to a cheaper camera in the 11's.

Mine is perfectly sharp. It also is in the rearview mirror though, not the dash. Now if someone could tell me how to turn off rearpark assist..forever.

I was the original poster. Had mine back in. The '11 models are said to be "normal" with the blurry camera. My '09 with Nav was crystal clear as is my '10 Expedition with Nav.

Blurry by day is still useable......it is now completely worthless at night.

They must have changed vendors or something to cut costs......but it is not a good thing.

Yep, the service people said the '11 cameras are blurry, especially at night and that is "just the way they are". I am going to add an LED light bar to the back which has bright white back-up lights as the camera does better the more light there is. If the LED bar doesn't do it I'll add some small PIAA lights as well.

All you need is a hammer, then a BIGGER HAMMER !!!

Hammer = universal tool.

Used for: cracking nuts, driving nails, applying finger nail accents, removing teeth, beating rugs, fending off tweakers. Beating red headed step children that farted in church. I could go on............

Just something to check, but i don't see why the camera off an 09 wouldn't plug into the 11, I work in a parts dept at a ford dealer, but I am a reservist currently deployed, it should be the same harness, unless the configuration of the camera has changed because i deployed before the 11's hit the lot, the plug in should be the same, I don't see why it wouldn't work, but again I'm not 100% sure. Just something to look into.

That was my thought, wonder if the dealer could put an 09-10 camera in? My 11 is definately blurrier than my 09, but not significantly. Still does the job, but just leaves me frustrated, feels like a step backwards. Would like to know the reason Ford reduced quality on this one.

I am guessing to save $2 per truck with a cheaper camera?

Even as dealer employees, there are times where we are left wondering about changes that ford made to things when they seemed to be just fine before, guess you can chalk that up to being the nature of the beast. (economy, ways to cut costs, etc.)

I noticed this issue as well.. just traded in my 09 lariat w/nav for a 11 eb platinum w/nav, and the camera is garbage compared to the 09. I back up into a covered parking spot every night, and with the 09 it was always bright as day and sharp...last night with the new truck i couldnt see a thing unless i hit the brakes...it's not a dealbreaker considering the other improvements theyve made to other parts of the truck, but kinda left me missing the 09 for a moment.

Well, the LED light bar didn't help enough with the low light camera function so I added two Vision X 2" LED lights which does seem to make a big difference. Unfortunately, Ford saves 2$ and I spend 400$ to fix their "improvement". Have any of you heard of switching out the camera with a better one? My wife's Fusion has a much better camera but her's doesn't have the zoom function like mine - I wonder if that's just a software thing or is it part of the camera itself? Did previous years F150 cameras have the zoom?
